Rick Scott(news to me) is republican so i expect you not to like him Helen.I want to say;Florida is amazing to me.Never paid Rick Scott any attention but am tickled w/what i see in a well run operation called Florida. It is a seperate subject.I am curious if you think Florida is better run than most states. Can you answer w/out mentioning party short comings? By the way,i have no idea if Blum and his wife are Democratic or republican.Nor did i know Rick Scott's party.I really do not follow politics at all.I am terrible about party division. Which seems to be a form of antagonism.I just learned Scott is republican. But i have been personally impacted by Florida in the area of reduced real estate taxes, prosecution of a felon against me,a landmark Florida real estate lawsuit filed against me that i felt was settled justly.Wildlife officers checking me out and keeping me in line(they amaze me),enforcing tickets when they catch you speeding.Do not mess w/Florida.I think politics are cleaner in Florida cause the judicial folks will bust you butt down there.

I see that article about Blum group Jim.I was satisfied he is a repeat crook. These people are a slave to their own actions.Living imprisoned in their own greed.Yikes, look in the eyes of that cold witch.Does that look happy to you?

Florida has always had Republican Governors, and they are mostly awesome. Matter of fact, if Jeb Bush ran for President, I'd vote for him. He's got heart, and a brain, something his brother was clearly lacking. So did his dad, who was a canny President. I voted for both of them. George Bush Jr was the one that fell off the tree and rolled into a ditch a mile away, but I voted for him his first term too. By the 2nd term, the BIG FAT LIE of getting up on National TV and telling us all that we were going to WAR with Iraq over WMD, when he already had the CIA report on his desk telling HIM that there were NO WMD in Iraq made me throw up. We killed all those US Soldiers and who knows how many Iraqi, to fight Reagan's ALLY Saddam Hussein, against weapons WE GAVE HIM, for what? To this day, with plenty of hindsight, the only answer is more money for George Bush. What's wrong with Rick Scott? After the REPUBLICAN Florida Legislature fought for 5 YEARS to get it approved, Rick Scott returned the money to the Federal Gov't allocated to our High Speed Rail. 1.5 billion dollars that Florida fought for for 5 years... in the middle of the worst economic depression in the nation. Florida was hit the hardest, and the industry hit hardest of all was Construction. That High Speed Rail could have saved a lot of children from sleeping in boxes in parks. That represented 10,000 jobs in Florida, that would have tied us over. The hatred for him for destroying the work of 5 years of Florida politicians, and the only opportunity Florida had at our lowest point to pull ourselves out sooner, was destroyed by Mr Medicare cheating turd. Nearly every single Floridian construction guy holds him personally responsible for the loss of their homes, their jobs, their lives for doing something that harmed them irrevocably, just for HIS pride. And for the record, I voted for him too. We have a tradition of wonderful Republican politicians, and every last one of us was blindsided by him. Never again.

What does it take to press charges against a senator? Probably has to be done by someone else who has his foot in the door. Our government is getting way out of hand. My son told me that FEMA personnel are now wearing a patch that says "National Police". What the hell is going on there. That brings another name to mind, KGB. The cesspool in Washington is stirring and I do not like the sound of it splashing on my rights and freedoms. It is time to unite and march on Washington. 4-5 million people marching should be able to get some attention. I wish I had more organizational skills. Jim Jim, google TACMARS What the heck. To save money, FEMA was lumped in with a bunch of other Gov't agency to cut down on redundancy in paperwork and streamline. This is what everyone was howling for, to streamline gov't waste, and they do it and now it's a conspiracy?! I posted the entire FEMA documentation a while ago about it, not digging it up again, since no one bothered to read it the first time. I just googled TACMARS... that's as out there as the 9-11 conspiracy theorists deciding that the Bush Admin blew up the World Trade Center. Seriously? If that's what they are, directions to hospitals and military bases, etc, how do you know that's not a precaution in case of INVASION on our soil? Something like that to be installed was years in the decisionmaking and design, and it's only intelligent that our military would be prepared in case of invasion. What is odd about that? It's the same thing as having designated bomb shelters and emergency shelters in case of disaster or need for evacuations. Look at the ridiculous disaster the New Orleans Katrina caused at the Superdome. We obviously needed a better way than that. If that happened again, perhaps those tachmars would allow emergency rescue teams from other states to get to people faster and know where to take them. Why is everything SINISTER and what is the purpose of this paranoia?

Helen, Just because a person's nose is in the wind does not mean they believe or disbelieve. The TACMARS thing has been around for a decade. I like to be aware of all sorts of conspiratorial information. I file it away and wait, and watch. Just like the IRS, EPA, any government agency has the potential to conceal a darker agenda. Vigilance. . . something is only a conspiracy theory until the time it becomes someone's new reality. Always question that which is done in secret, beware of transformational changes, and look behind door #3.

Well ok, Bill, I guess that makes sense. But some of the conspiracy theories are just so out there, you can't call them anything but wacky.

Any profits made from the sales go to the actual listing AGENT, and the profits to the brokerage go to the stockholders. I can't see any hoopla at all. WELLLL!!!! Of course not! We all assumed you would not see any malfeasance at all. No news here.

Anyway, California can vote her out of office if they don't like her. The rest of us can't do much about it either way. Neither can Californians. Feinbag is Senatoir for life. We are so completely and irrevocably gerrymandered that no matter who runs she will win.

Why did Rick Scott want to make the rail decision and is that the sole reason he is disliked?
You know Lake George area is a full of New York/Jersey snow bird population older folks. Nov dec jan feb mar.And many of my neighbors are from same area.My next door neighbor is from New Jersey.Mike is the model neighbor and watches my stuff like 24 hour pit bull. But he knows more than you do:> and never stops telling you how to do everything and is super nosey. He is Nam Vet and is a i think liberal.Treats his southern wife like a dog.She puts up w/it-not sure why. These northern people have bought most of the lots that i split to sell thru local agent. They have been a pleasure to work with. Are people of their word. My agent is a partner in a broad sense. She finds me raw land that has wetland issues/squatters/right of way issues-and i untangle and divide them into smaller parcels and relist them back thru her.It was lucrative for both of us until of course the market wacked out.I am amazed that Florida does not protect their residents better.I am just a cold blooded investor and get treated the same. The same in that i think Florda should have higher land tax for out of state owners. The taxes are real high there.Interesting state.

We do have higher land tax for out of state owners... because they are investors. Investors get treated the same whether they are Floridians or not. If you live here, we have Homestead exemption of $50,000 free off your assessment (which amounts to roughly $500 free off taxes a year). That's not the kicker tho... the kicker is that no matter what the property goes up to, your assessment ONLY goes up 5% a year maximum. It can go down, but it cannot go up past that.
So during the height of the real estate frenzy, when say today a $100,000 property sells for $250K in a year, if it's your homestead, it's going up to $105K assessment, even tho you can sell it immediately for $250K. This compounds obviously. Homesteaded people were paying like 25% of assessments charged to investors like yourself.

I was thinking of a higher millage for out of staters. Can you file homestead exemption in 2 states? No because you are allowed to be a resident of only one state. So nonresident should pay higher millage for example.Because Florida is plagued with out of state/country owners. What amazed me was that over the past 3 years my property tax bill on 7 properties dropped about 40 percent. They are all in Volusia and Marion Counties. The value went down(real value not county appraissal) probably 50 percent.Property taxes dropping??Who does that?Thank you county governments for your honesty.Citizens of Florida must have held them at gun point:> Also amazing is Marion,Lake(Lake George),and Volusia counties have the highest lightening density and dang near the highest murder density.Your Orlando is a famous murder setting. I am amazed at the tax drop.Maybe you can give insight.

I agree with you. Out of towners and vacation properties like yours should be taxed higher. I have NOOOO idea why they aren't. Possibly because there are a lot of time-share sales in the Disney area, and they don't want to make the annual costs way higher than necessary. No clue. It would have helped us a lot if our counties had the money when the economy tanked.
For the last 30 years or so, we had the same tax collector here. He was a Democrat, and very fair about assessments. Everyone was happy, no corruption, no waste. He just retired for the first time last year, and so his spot came open, so for the first time in as long as I've lived here, we got a new Tax Collector in our county. We'll see how he does. Most Florida counties are run by very very conscientious and honest people.
That's why it completely blew our minds when we got Rick Scott for Governor... it was almost inconceivable that anyone could be so evil. He alone accounts for why Florida went Democrat in 2012, even Democrats who had lost their seats (Alan Grayson) regained them the fallout was so hard, and the actual vote count was probably closer to 80% if you take into account the Republican cheating at the polls. 19 of 20 people I talked to voted Democrat, and many of them were like me, DIE-HARD Republicans. You cannot hate anything more than something you once loved, when you realize that the love was a lie.
Florida went through hell the last 7 years, you have no freaking idea. But we learned a lot. Orlando is odd as far as murder goes... I believe we were the murder capital of the USA for a few years. The odd part is how very very safe the city is... 90% of the murders happens in about 1 square mile.
You ever watch Escape from NY? It was an old movie, they decided that they were going to wall off the entire city, and dump all inmates there to fight it out with zero supervision. You go in, you never come out. Well, that part of Orlando is kinda like that... LOL! It's only a few miles from Disney, and the stuff that goes on there is unbelievable, but doesn't touch anyone else. So long as they are killing each other off, no one cares, but let one person outside of that area get hurt, and the manhunt rivals anything you've seen in the movies.
Disney World and that entire area is about the safest place on planet earth. It's one of the top tourist destinations in the world, and they do not mess around with security. Remember how Epcot was the 'city of the future'? Well, it still is, and they keep advancing it. Most stoplights in Orlando have cameras, and running red lights are ticketed automatically by the cameras... I think every block has facial recognition cameras. We tend to get the first technology and the latest and greatest, we were one of the first areas in the USA to get 3G, then 4G for mobile, one of the first to get DSL when it came out decades ago, and mobile phones... so if you're ever curious what 'Big Brother' looks like, you come to Orlando:).
And in Orlando, if you are NOT in that miserable murder square, criminal acts are punished harder than any other state in the US too... law enforcement here is stunningly diligent, and the penalties border on insane. We have people in prison here serving life sentences for 3 strikes... 3 1oz or less possession of marijuana charges. This is a Republican state, and the prisons are contracted... gotta keep them full to get our money's worth. This is not the state to commit felonies in... and very unlike any other state in the US.

I am impressed with your state.A great judicial system has an amazing impact on honesty in tax and government.Interesting mix of south and north folks. It takes years to train you transplants.Alligators like your taste. Sorry you got a bad governer. He is not to popular.Always remember that republicans are bad liars because they rarely lie.
I am glad you moved south. You have a few more years to go before you get your papers.

LOL! Republicans are bad liars because they rarely lie? Republicans are people, just like everyone else. You have honest people and lying people, and everything in between.
As for few more years, you are very mistaken. You are born a Florida Cracker, and you go back many generations if you are, you never become one.

Too good to be a Florida cracker huh?
It takes yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrssssss to enrichen our gene pool.
We marvel at how New Yorkers are hatched at birth.Born in a shell full of ahole/ argument fluid.LOL
I sit in the little breakfast spot in the morning when it is full of snow birds in cold season(The Square Meal,Salt Springs FL).I have been asked 3 times over the years by waitress' to stop a potential fist fight between two probably +75 year old Jersey/Yorker men.Argue over anything
The forum guys ain't gonna win.Fun to watch em try-New York City and a degree from Georgetown haha A recipe for massive ball of ill logic. They might as well hang it up.

Uh... YOU sir, are a Georgian, not a Florida Cracker, what do you mean 'our' gene pool?
It's true... every New Yorker loves a good fight/argument/game... but so do Southerners. The approach is just different. Ie., New Yorker: That is the STUPIDEST thing I ever heard, you're wrong! vs Floridian: Oh honey, of course you're right.. but that's just because you don't know what you're talking about *wink smile*!
Direct vs Indirect.
Having split my life between NY, DC, and Florida, I can't tell you which I relate to best... probably Florida:).

Oh i got Florida in me.Trust that.Whole family lives/from there(cousins 45,53,56,57,62,64 and 66).And i have to teach them to do Florida.Having to go down there and reinject the south into them from hanging out with you imports. You are right about direct/indirect.I trust this direct stuff.A lot less back stabbing that way.Like making advance on southern girl-oh dooon't,nooo, noo dooon't dooo thaat,noooo,pleeeaaase-you know what that means in southern!!Where else does no mean yes:> Floridians give Alabama Georgia Tennessee Carolina red carpet treatment.Needing a retraining from the import pollution.Yearning for southern hospitality and southern traditions, bless their hearts. I just feel sorry for them.

and........ back to the op.Seems Feinbags husband Blum is the luckiest sunuvabich to walk the earth. In Kommiefornia, we call this the Browndoggle. So badly does our loony Governor Moonbeam want to have a high speed rail, they must give the contract to our Senator Feinbag's husband. $35,000,000 per mile to have a train that will largely be empty when it runs. But, no matter, we'll put a sh\tload of money in our buddies wallet. It's worth it, in the name of ....... well I dont remember why they think it is good and personally see nothing good about having a "high speed rail". They have even renamed it at least once because their are sections that simply cannot be "high speed". Whattaya think Blum will do with all the money when he dies? I doubt he'll be the next Bill Gates or Warren Buffet and 90 others.

This is old hat for Senator Feinstein. She resigned MILCON (Senate Committee) in shame over a defense contract scandal involving her husband.
