Hi everyone! I'm b-a-a-a-c-k!
If you remember, last year I started tumbling for a rock unit with my second graders. You all were an invaluable resource, offering support, answering questions, and sending all kinds of samples from all over! (You should have seen the ladies in the office--whenever a REALLY heavy box arrived, they'd look at me--"more rocks?") You guys rock! I've missed being here.
I was hoping to keep the tumbler going all year, but my time became so limited I just couldn't do it.
However, it's that time of year again. I got down all my barrels, collanders, pails, grit, tumbler, rocks, etc. and I'm getting ready to roll again. I'm still working on how to organize some of the samples you sent last year to have a proper display for the class.
Anyway--I'm sure I'll be piping up now and then, and certainly reading, reading, reading.

space... i was just about to give you the benefit of maybe changing a little...i was just about to wish you a happy birthday...i was just about hoping you followed susans wisdom in your birthday thread...or maybe that was meant for me.
i hate this came about in dandys thread...but i cant see how the school children would come about using saws...nor would i recommend them do so...so if you could keep your ideas to yourself in such a way not to hurt the childrens ideas...it will be appreciated...kev.

Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcome back! I'll let you know how things progress this year. It'll be a week or so before we get our first batch started in the tumbler. I know the kids will be so excited.
I find that the belt on my Lortone 33-B is really loose. I'll be adjusting that today. I also ordered new belts (um, and some rocks) from The Rock Shed just in case I can't adjust it enough.

Hey Dandy...is your last name Lyon by any chance? Maybe we are related. Welcome back, anyway.

Sorry, CQ. Dandylyon is my hubby's nickname for me. He says that I sound ferocious, but am really a softie.
