I just joined this forum last night after reading about the game you play with wrapping cabs and adding cabs to send on to another person in the game. It sounds like a fun wrapping game and wonder if I could join in next game as a newbie? Also the reason for this reply is to say these wrapped stones are absolutely gorgeous!!!!!! I've never seen bails done with the weaving before. Sweet!!!!! Wish I knew how to do that. I teach wrapping at my lapidary/silversmithing shop in the rv park I live in in tucson az. But its only basic and for beginners and not fancy so anyone can accomplish a fairly decent finished wrapped cab. I know I will learn alot from this site and everyone here and am looking forward to participating with everyone......bebeaz

I think Tela has tutorials for some of her wraps.
you might put the question about the next roaming wire box in a thread of its own. the right person might not see it here.

Thanks Randy and thanks Daniel. I don't have any tutes up for sale right now, though. Reevaluating them. Bebeaz- Welcome!!! I'm sure there won't be a problem with the next round of roaming wire. By then you'll have been here awhile, I hope. The woven bail is done by lots of people. I have never wanted to step on any authors' toes and tell people how to do it. A lot of wrappers make a living on tutes. So, although I'd love to explain it or do a tute, I can't since it isn't original to me. It's pretty easy to figure out, though, since you sound like you have a lot of experience with wire. Hope you post some of your work. I'd love to see it.

Tela, do you know if a book that covers the topic? If you mean the woven bail... I think, but I'm not sure, that Eni Oken had the first instructions for it. I've seen other people do it, too. She was the first one I saw quite a few years ago. I figured it out for myself, which wasn't too hard, but I understand that I do do it differently- technique wise, not design wise. I was at Jewelrylessons.com for a long time and believe you me, there were 100's of thousands of words written about the difference. There is a code of conduct of sorts for tute writers. Some adhere to it, some don't. I do. Technically, because I do it differently, I am "allowed" to do a tute for it, but out of respect for Eni, I do not. Eni and I had a falling out and have great differences on a large range of business subjects, but I give her credit where credit is due. She is a great wire wrapper. OK off my soapbox. But the short of it is- you can find tutes that will teach the bail at jewelrylessons.com If you mean wire wrapping, in general, I love Ed Sinclair and his books.

Thanks Deb and Rock Junquie, I will be posting pictures when I figure out how in the meantime I will ask if there is a tutorial available to purchase as I am in love with that bail!!!!!!! I usually just wrap all the wires together to form a neat finished bail and teach that to my more advanced students. Bebeaz

Great. I was asking for babeaz. I figured there were instructions out there. I don;t plan to start wrapping myself. At least not till I get a bunch of other stuff done first.

Bebeaz The best thing I can tell you is to go to jewelrylessons.com and look for tutorials by Eni Oken. Plus, you can search there for a woven bail and see what comes up. I haven't been there in a very long time, so I don't know what else is available.

Btw......I had a wrapped cab of sonora sunset published on the wire-sculpture site. Its located in the archive under gem profiles and sonora sunset/sunrise. Its the one with the kumihimo braided necklace and beads in the wraps if anyone cares to look. I was very excited that Dale Armstrong ( we've met) selected one of mine to showcase. That would be the easiest way to see one I've done for now. Bebeaz

Back on topic here... Tela you know I'm your biggest fan and these are three examples of your beautiful work ... But (heehee) the second one looks more feminine to me than what a guy would normally wear. Don't tell the guy who is wearing it that I said that tho I don't want to get punched lol. Again they are beautiful!

He told me he just bought a larimar bead bracelet for himself, so that should tell you something. He's an older guy and married, too.
