KCC for the month of June 2013! Rules: Nothing has changed, Entries are not required to be started in the time frame of the contest, only finished by the deadline. All entries however will still require a photo of the slab, preform and finished cab. So no cabs pulled from the drawer. Things like intarsias, carvings, jewelry, and composite type cabs can not be entered in an effort to keep the contest somewhat fair by just entering free form style cabs. Again, please remember to include a pic or two of the original slab, then a pic of the preform, and finally, the finished cab. We ask that all entries submitted to this contest be unique to the RTH version of the Killer Cab Contest. I will do my best to monitor the other forums for duplicate entries, and any duplicates will be disqualified. You can enter any shape cab and your choice of mineral. Feel free to share with us what ever you like about the material, the process or what ever else you would like to share. Cabs posted here are only for the contest. Roy has generously offered to sponsor this month with some nice slabs! Thanks Roy!! If anyone would like to sponsor any months contest, please feel free, we are not trying monopolize that, its just fun to to get a prize, so when there is no sponsor we will keep doing our best to get the winner some material. Good Luck everyone! Carleton

Nice Wish I could help on an id, but I can confidently say its not Labradorite, lol. The bands in contrast to the pattern made for a killer design, love the photo presentation too! A little over a week left, hope to get you some competition soon. Carleton

Here's my entry. No "before" picture of the slab, but here is the cab. A 4x4" square, made this way to fit into the kitchen tiling (it will replace a tile). Here is the "cab" together with the tile. I used some double sided tape to stick the preform to the tile and bring it to the precise shape of the tile. Close up of the cab: Here you can see the chamfering on the edges: And a bit of shine (reflection of the neighbouring block-house): Thanks for looking, Adrian

Hello, I was anticipating a nice variety from Thunder, and it showed up just in time to get a Cab done. It was hard to pick from all the awesome slabs he sent but this is one material I have never worked but always wanted to. Slab: Pre form: Cab: Sorry for the hand pics, but the green was just not showing up in the light box, even in these pics it does not show how nice and deep the color is. Thanks again Thunder! Decided today to take a short break for cab cutting because I had not done a cab for this month's contest AND I got a load of killer rocks in from Roy! They are all incredible but this one has really been talking to me so I broke down and went ahead and did it up today. I'm really pleased with how it came out. This is Gary Green Jasper... the kind that stinks when you cut it and all I can say is I'm loving this stone!!!! Unfortunately, I did not get a photo of the preform because once I started working on this stuff... well I fell into it and was having too much fun to think about anything else... but do have a decent shot of the slab...if that counts... Anyway, Roy's Gary Green Jasper...that is now Cathy's Gary Green Jasper and a ton of fun to work!!!! The slab And the cab

Hi Orrum, if you knock on his name above your post, you could ask him in a pm! Roy is great to work with!!! Gary Green is a hard stone! It rivals the porcelain jaspers and agates. I would not attempt cutting it on a 6" anything, slab attachment or not. You can cut cabs from slabs on that though... I would venture that Roy will work with you if he has any more of this material left... but tell him to save me another rock of it when you pm him!!! GREAT stone and a ton of fun to work!!! You'll love it!!!! Cathy
