Thats cool that you have the same one! I've actually had problems with it in this creek. If I set it up right and it collects all the fines, I can watch as flakes go right through. But if I get it set up to catch the bigger flakes, it clogs up with gravel. When I go back today I'm going to try and set it up below my Hungarian riffle sluice box. A little two for one action ;P

I feel for you. The biggest mini nugget I found was lost when I piked it up with tweezers and it popped out "ping" and it was gone forever.
My sluice is a lot wider with expanded metal and a mat under it. The mat picked up gold so fine I did not see it until I ran the catch through the blue bowl. There may be better separators out there but the blue bowl is the neatest thing since peanut butter. It does not get out all the black sand but it gets enough out so you can suck up the gold without picking up the black sand. I bought it because I am no good at panning down to the nitty gritty.
Good luck with your search. It can be back breaking but when you see the gold in the vial it is all worth it. It is a fun hobby for anyone living close to the mountains. It doesn't get much better than camping and prospecting. Jim

Ah Geoff I feel for you. I have done a few Tom Massey's myself. I guess you will have a plastic collection bottle from now on? And paint the top BRIGHT orange, ha. Think of the episode as an offering to the river gold god so you will find more next time, and that make you feel better. Probably not though, huh. Well you live to try again. - Mark

That's awesome. I was always leery about knowing what areas to keep clear of (private claims, private property etc.)Any advice
