I started slabbing yesterday and will post some photos later, but today ARRGGHH! I have somehow upset the gods of the rocks.. 6lb spring mountain. 1 end cut came off nice, every other slab just came apart. The whole dang rock is one big maze of fracture. 8lb chunk of Biggs. Cut 5 slabs before I gave up. All of them were slate grey. 2lb owhees solid mass of fractures. 4lb Picasso Jasper(?) Every single slab crumbled apart. 1lb original owhees also fractured inside. 2lb Brunean slabbed but had little usable material and nothing special. I tried drinking more beer and even belched a few times, nothing seems to be working..how can I appease these fiendishly fickle gods of fractures?

Hopefully you can at least tumble the crumbles. I have sliced up plenty of rocks that just ended up being tumbler food. With any luck your next cut will be a slice that makes it all worth it.

Wow, that sucks ... sorry to hear. I think more beer is in order. Then maybe a shipment from one of the vendors for additional rough. Speaking of which, I'll have a beer as well.

I think maybe your saw needs a beer too!

Have you slabbed some of the 10" saw rough I sent? I think that was all solid.

Daniel, I have slabbed and cabbed some of it. One of the "buttons" I posted is from the pet wood rough. I am working on earrings from the purpleish rough you sent. All that material you sent was great in the saw

Did you remember to spit on the rocks before you put them in the saw? Bet you forgot.

I don't like those kinds of days either! That just means your next cutting session will be awesome!
