I'd just like to give a big ole thank you to our member Roy. I apologize too Roy as I cannot seem to hook your name to your RTH handle. Anyway, Roy generously sent me a surprise parcel of mixed material from the Pacific Northwest, including a dandy hunk of Davis Creek rainbow obsidian which will be the next rock I slab on my saw *S*. It looks to be a beauty. All the years I deer hunted up there I never picked up any rainbow obsidian so that will be a new stone for me to cut.
Roy, if you're a cabber, let me know and if you'd like, I'll make you up a a box of slabs for cabbing in return for your gift....Mel
PS: The white rock in the box you asked about appears to me to be a mix of dolomite, quartz and muscovite mica like you often find associated with pegmatite dikes.
Damn! Roy's RTH handle is "roy" *L* Duh!!!!

Mel, WHOOHOO on the Davis Creek! Can't wait to see what you do with it! People seem to think it's hard to work, but it isn't!!!!
