I didn't do the cab, but I wrapped it for a member of the Gem and Mineral Society last night. I have two more cabs to wrap for her, here's the first one (gold sheen obsidian)

I'm with Tela. Whats not to like? Nice color, clean wrap and some carving to boot.

Randy, you did a great job with this! I love what you did with the bail... adds to the exotic fee of the piece! What don't you like about it?

Primitive style, but nice... The wrap is perfect for it, so you pulled it off well....

I like it. Your style makes a great presentation for that mask cab, Randy.

The wrap is great Randy but I'm with you on the cab, kinda weird looking to me. Maybe I'm just more of a traditional cab person or just don't care for masks.

Exactly, to me it doesn't really show off the stone. It may as well have been a plastic mask.

If you like it, that makes one of us. lol LOL, Randy. Cool as in great job. The mask ain't my cup o tea, but I do like scarabs, for some reason.

If you squint your eyes, it looks like a scarab that's had a few chips taken out of his @ss.

I dunno.
I am certainly no expert.
But looking at the cab... well.....
Randy, if the carving was more recognizable as a skull, even a stylized one, would you like it better?
To me, I don't see the 'mask' or whatever it is supposed to be. All my inexperienced eye sees is a cab with a bunch of lines carved in. That doesn't represent much to me. If I could easily recognize it as some "thing" then I'd be inclined to like it. But then again, it is most likely that I am NOT the target audience.

Seeing it in person, there's no mistaking that it's a mask. In the pic I can see where it would be hard to tell. To me, the classic smooth cabochon is much more classy than a skull or mask. The only other thing that I think is classy is the traditional Cameo.

If classy is the goal, then we agree.
Others may think "cool" is as good as "classy". Sounds like it might be "cool". I guess that's what makes the world go around.
Your wrapping certainly makes it a complete clean unit. The owner should be pleased.
