I almost hate to post this because I am going to lose my status as pudding stone king but there is a gift shop on Drummond Island that has always sold pudding stone odds and ends but this spring they built a dedicated pudding stone rock shop and went to covington and ordered everything brand new. 30" slab saw 24" slab saw tumbler with (3) one gallon barrels Rociprolap grinders and sanders 55 gallons of mineral oil It sure is a nice looking place but they are going to really have to sell a ton to pay all that off. www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.529163173798369.1073741826.388245294556825&type=1Chuck

That's a really clean shop! Is she putting polyurethane on that slab? That just seems wrong.

yeah they always sold slabs that way in the past and at $15-$20 they were always sold out. I see he has a big $2,000 Rociprolap sitting there so he has the right stuff to polish slabs now.
the two slab saws alone were probably about $16,000 and new blades for that 30" saw are $1,000 so I bet he has $25,000 just in equipment plus they built the building just for this purpose. its right next to the gift shop.

Rock shop --- clean room? How can you put those two in a single post? If I spent a week just cleaning my rock shop it would still not be a clean room and it is only eight feet by fourteen feet. Sure wouldn't mind it looking like theirs though if I did not have to clean it. I hope it works for them. Rock people should rock. I love the pudding stone that you sent to me. Right up front on the shelf. Jim

thanks for posting that Walt. I wonder if its a new event this year?
It funny that they mention that the rock got its name "pudding stone" by the brittish on St. Joseph Island. I can see St. Joseph island from our place on Drummond Island and even snowmobile there across the ice in the winter.
