Whoa, those are really cool. I sometimes wander around my yard taking close ups of bugs. It's amazing how cool some small things look when you blow them up.

A digital camera and a computer to crop the photo makes a great microscope

Great photo/computer work, James. The camera must have a pretty high resolution as the cropping isn't showing any loss of clarity.

Thanks folks. That camera is 3000 x 2000 Paul.Actually same as Panasonic DMC-TC3 point and shoot.
It does crop well;and i try to fill the 3k x 2k with as much of the subject as possible. The lense is a zoom 24-85 w/macro set about 10 years old.Nikon 35 mm D70 old also. The lense is high grade and affordable used.

Thanks, James. I'm looking for a camera that gives better definition and depth than my Olympus fe. I've been eyeing the Canon Powershot S110.

In many conditions the above Panasonic shoots everybit as good a photos as Nikon full prograde 35 mm and lense.
The CCD's are all super good electronic optical recieving devices rendering the lenses much less critical. My DMC TZ3 is 8 years old. The CCD technology was superb back then. Not much improvement since.
The big Nikon has a thick glass lense granted w/lots of surface area to grab light. The phones and point/shoots have small but very thin efficient lenses with minimal light loss. The CCD makes up for small light gathering ability thru exceptional electronic image amplification.
Look at comparisons on line.My photo bud switched to the Canon recently. He says it has less noise-whatever that means.

I finally figured out how to shoot the complex 35mm Nikon digital using manual shutter control taking the white balance of of auto mode. That camera shoots so cold(blue)in auto mode.Know i can crank the shutter speed as slow as i can hold it steady and decrease shutter opening(aperture)to splatter max color enrichment and depth of field. The light meter also operates thru the lense to tell if you are good w/the exposure. Those photos are almost devoid of photoshop manipulations. Most pics at 1/125 and f16 to f29 due to good light.Lense is OK fast at zoom f2.8 to f4.0.I finally found the strenght of this proffesional camera(picked up cheap used D70 body).
