I've been studying up on geological layers and volcanic ash flows in my local area. Went out to an area last weekend that looked good according to the geological maps. climbed up on top of a hill that was covered with lots of volcanic rhyolite but only a few scattered pieces of agate here and there. Well, long story short we traced the float material back to the top of the hill to a small piece still in the ground and started digging. here's what we pulled out of the ground:
