Not sure what it is... but I don't think it's variscite, it's the wrong shade of green:).

I'm thinking copper minerals -- malachite, chrysocolla and maybe a little azurite -- staining a host rock of some sort. It doesn't look like variscite to me.

more chrysocolla looking than variscite, but the pics are very grainy and not quite in focus. can you get a better pic?

I need to get better pictures. Like I said, I have tons of this stuff, most of it is much smaller. These pictures were taken with a phone, so the quality is horrible. My mother is using my good camera for now, next time I am over there I will pick it up and will be able to post much better pictures and I will post other specimens.

Finally got pics of one piece of my variscite. The rest is buried somewhere in my basement.

I have samples that look like what you have on the right. When I get my camera I will take more pictures. I know variscite from different places has different looks to it. Is that Lucin variscite you have?

I believe this material came from Utah. Too much yellow in the left pic. Bad lighting. It should look more like the pic on the right.(Opposite sides of the same piece).
I purchased several pounds of this material from a seller in R&G magazine way back in the late 80's. I sold a lot of cabs from it in the 80's and early 90's. I kept a few small nodules as specimens.

I would love to rock hound in Don's basement some time. LOL. John, the basement is nothing. You need to hound in my storage shed out back.
