I purchased an digital timer/outlet ($16.00 at Lowes)for my slab saw this past weekend. It allows me to set a finite time for the saw to run then cuts off the power. It keeps me from being tethered to the saw for every slab, or having to rely on the "auto-shut off" chain to flip the switch. It enabled me to spend a little time this weekend slabbing while working in the yard. Tiger Tail Biggs and an unknown Spiderweb jasper? Stone from Daniel - Sorry Daniel, I cannot remember the name (again!) Completely unknown - not even sure where I got it lol Another one I cannot remember the name of. I am looking forward to cabbing this. The lot from the weekend I have been trying to work through all my random rough to begin focusing more on specific types

Hi - nice cuts! The grey and pink/purple ones go by 3 names: "Exotica Jasper", "Sci-fi Jasper" and/or "Porcelain Jasper". All the same rock. The last name, "Porcelain Jasper" is a misnomer as this stuff appears to actually be a rhyolite and only polishes to a semi-gloss, at least with cerium or tin oxide... Nifty patterns on it, though, and I like it.
I think the 2 orangish "Spiderweb Jasper" slabs are a rock sold by two ebay sellers that I very much suspect are actually the same one person or rock shop in Utah and he calls it "Bone Jasper". C-ya, Rick

Rykk, the one I have as Spiderweb Jasper is from a local rock shop. I went back and found my reciept and that is what the called it as well. I am not sure where it is from initially. It still confuses the heck out of me how many names the same stone has lol
Shotgunner, I don't think it is a Noreena, it is a little harder and glassier/more crystaline. When I was cutting, it I kept thinking maybe it was an agate that wasn't quite "done". Once I cleaned it up, it isn't an agate but doesn't have the same feel as some of the jaspers I have. Maybe it is a Noreena that isn't quite done..?

the red in quartz is not noreena. it has the look of some koi that has lots of quartz and no hemetite, but there is not much koi like that.
anyway, the one with pink dots is a metarhyolite form near Chambersberg, PA. I pulled it out of some stream beds.
