Very nice cab! What is the difference in carrisite and morrisonite? I see them on ebay with both names together in the description.

I love the ring too! My wife gave it to me after I bent up my original so bad it couldn't be worn anymore. We aren't exactly newlyweds either but I have been through several rings. 32 years. This is my favorite ring. It comes in different colors also. I am glad she got black.
As for the question on the difference between Carrisite and Morrisonite. I don't really know. Where I bought it has both Morrisonite and Carrisite. This particular slab has a lot of crumbly areas in it. I have attempted several cabs from the slab and this is the first one that held together. In fact the back has a chip in it that I may attempt to rectify today. I hope I don't end up making the cab smaller. -- Or should I just leave it? Is is saleable with a chip on the back?

Nice cab. As for selling a chipped stone.... I guess it would depend on the chip and where it is and whether you disclose it when selling it. If you discount for the chip, someone would probably be happy for the bargain. Or, you could try to fill it. Just making suggestions...

What would I fill it with? I am perfectly happy with just trying to finish the back with the chip in it and discounting and disclosing it.

Very nice stone! I love Carrasite but it's been hard to find over the years. I'm glad to see it's more available these days.
Someone asked about the difference between it and Morrisonite. I lived in Western Idaho in the 1970s and used to see the Carras family selling their namesake jasper at local shows. It always seemed to be overshadowed by Morrisonite and didn't gain its deserved popularity then. I understand the Morrisonite mine has been closed down and no new material will be available - just stuff from old collections. So Carrasite, which is mined near the Morrisonite location and is very similar in many respects, may finally come into its own.

The chip wouldn't matter if someone silversmithed it with the back to a plate. Can I ask where the ring came from? I'm still digging both

The ring came from Kohl's.
