while this is only in this section because it is about a slab, I invite you to take a visual journey. I have started several threads on seeing pictures in stones, and not too long ago had a popular thread "What do you See?" ( forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/57117 about some polkadot agate and a mountain train. Check it out. Today I again ask What Do you See? Here is the back of one of my most favorite slab paintings. I like the polkadot a lot, but this one just a tad more. Here too the artist has taken the suggestion of a scene in stone and confirmed that representation by adding a little paint. Unlike many painting on slabs (we have all seen the animals painted on agate) this is not covering the pattern in the stone, but working with it. Once you have really thought about what you see, you can use the link below to see if you saw what the artist saw, as well as to see the artistry of the artist. result: i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb114/deb193/whatsee_front_zpsa4af34cb.jpgDiscussion very welcome, BUT - please do not make comments that give it away before others have had a chance to look for themselves.

are we allowed to guess if we haven't gone to see the result?

Love how the artist used the lower half. The upper half though; I see rather more likely a heard of elephants approaching the water.
But then again, the way the artist did it allows the slab to really shine.

I did not look at the link, so I have no idea what she did... but some time ago, I saw a pix on facebook that looked just like it, so I spent a few minutes trying to locate it and couldn't... But these are close: Now if I were PAINTING on it, this is what I'd paint: or this: or this: Ok, now I'll go peek at your link:).

yeah, you would have had to cover a lot of the stone for your pics - which mostly matched the sky. but your rocks in stream was a nice pic.

The pix I saw was a shot INTO the cave from the water... like taken from a Kayak. It was ethereal looking.
The colors in your slab aren't so blue, but the top half has a level of dimension if you look real hard at it, and it looks like stalactites:).

Like looking from a boat at a tall ice cliff on a calm day. Like off the coast of B.C.

I was thinking more along the lines of breaching.

Yeah, I didn't want to give it away, but I was thinking of something like an orca jumping up and out.

i get it. but that is kind of sad for the orca. I like this better, and the 3 zones: foreground, midground, and background work for me. The inclusion of shadows really fit too.

LOL. now I correctly read "breaching". I had read "beaching" and when you said up and out - I took it to mean out of water onto land, and unfortunate "beached" whale.

Whoa... I remember that Frankenstein I think... was that the one where the girl was Jane Seymour? I was really young when I saw it and I could not put a finger on why that show bothered me so much. Still can't really, but it's been decades and I still remember it!!

Still can't really, but it's been decades and I still remember it!! Me too!!! I was young and yet I think of it often. Maybe, I should watch it again, but I'm afraid the magic would be lost. It was very good as I remember it. www.imdb.com/title/tt0070074/?ref_=sr_2

Couldn't resist a quick PS mash up. Maybe should have made the orca bigger. After shrinking and desaturating, the orca was a pretty good fit.
