Hello to all! I'm new even though I registered almost exactly two years ago. I just haven't had the opportunity to participate until now and I'm looking forward to relating to the group. I'm a cabbing addict and enjoy cutting almost any type of material. My favorites are the classic agates and jaspers, especially those from the Northwest, although my slab trays are bulging with materials from worldwide locations. I also enjoy cutting/carving fire agate as you can see from my avatar. Even though I've been involved with this hobby for many years I've learned a lot surfing through the various thread the past several days. I hope I'll be able to add to the great knowledge base that exists here and make new friends.

Thanks John, I appreciate the welcome. I'm located near Ventura, close to the coast. I notice you're in Newberry Springs. Enjoying the heat today? It really warmed up here.

And a welcome also from "more southern" southern California, near San Diego. I'm about 10.9 miles north of the Mexico border.
I think you'll like it here! Jean

Hi Jean. I love San Diego but don't get down that way often: too much congested freeway traffic thru L.A. Rick

Rick, try taking 14 east to 15 south, then all the way to San Diego county. No Los Angeles at all!

I definitely avoid LA at all costs. Can't remember the last time I went through there, I always take 15... Jean

Shotgunner and Jean, I just checked the map and that's definitely the best route to S.D. It'll add a few miles but I'm sure the drive will be much easier on the nerves! Thanks for the tip. Rick

Welcome - and wonderful fire agate you're showing!
As for location - I'm in Ventura - just off the 33.
Welcome!
Oh, I tried to click on your link in your profile to see your site, but it didn't work. I did reach it by the old fashioned internet search. Though you might want to know.

Thanks for all your latest welcomes, comments and background -- Christopher, Pat, deedolee, Jeff, John and Lowell.
Thanks for the info on my profile Lowell. I'll look into it but I'm not very good at this computer stuff. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to make it work.

Rick (Gemfeller). I thought it would be important that you were welcomed by someone not from California. Thanks to all of you living in California, we have lots of wide open spaces in New Mexico. I know the weather is good, the wine if better, and the winters are moderate, but the traffic and taxes are horrendous. Come rock hound in New Mexico when possible and . . . welcome. Tom
