Can't say panning since I've given up on that time waster. Made me laugh cause I am with you! Seems like I either clear everything out too fast, or am just waving my hands jiggling gravel :-)

lol That doesn't seem fair. You got as much in one day as it took me all summer to get. I love the way the blue bowl works. It was an awesome invention and I spent a lot of time watching the black sands lift up over the inside edge. You got some great pieces. I hope you can find a seam with lots more. Jim

A whole summer of that every day and you'll be able to retire

Thanks everyone. I wish I could go out everyday, but the 38 week pregnant wife wouldn't agree. As of now all my gold sits in a jar on a shelf. I know, boring. Jim, you gotta go North for the real gold!

Gold... one more thing I intend to try my hand at. Cool report, and from what little I know about looking for gold you finding this much is pretty cool!

Thanks everyone! John, it's pretty wild how much gold I can find in 3 hours up on that creek. It was a hydraulic mine until the government figured out hydraulic mining was bad for the environment. Opposed to what, I'm not sure. Mountain top removal and strip mining seem just as bad... Anyway. The guys working the mine absolutely sucked at what they were doing. They were pulling ~ 700 ounces a month while hydraulic operations were active only because of how rich the deposit is. Recreational miners are still regularly pulling one ounce nuggets from the tailings.
I'm heading up to Hatcher Pass tomorrow. Never had much luck panning there, but we'll see how the sluice treats me. Pictures to come, of course.
