We bought this 8" flat lap a couple years ago and it was already mounted to this nasty looking green stand. Cant complain too much since it was fully operational and got used a lot in our first year. It was a craigslist find at $50. This weekend I was looking for a cheap project to keep busy so I decided me and my oldest son would upgrade the stand to match the rest of the lapidary workbenches we have built. here's a before shot I just noticed my boy has on flip flops and saftey glasses - lol And here's the end result Thanks for looking Chuck and Darren

Wow looks great!
Now for the truth...Do you use your shop? My shop isn't that clean, after I clean it.....my shop wasn't that clean when it was new....granted, my housekeeping skills are sub-standard (waste of time)...my shop is neat, I know where everything is, but DAMN--> that's clean.

I was thinking the same thing! I think your shop is cleaner than my kitchen!

Nice shop n great stand yall built. Chuck has OCC.....Obsesive Compulsive Cleanliness.....most commonly brought on and intensified by exposure to Puddingstone.....considered both incurable and highly contagious.....transmitted by proximity to either puddingstone or endstage puddingstone cabber or tumbler!!!! ROFLMAO Bill

I think whats missing is the massive amounts of rock that most of you guys show in your shop pictures. We have a hard time keeping enough material on hand just to feed the tumblers (thats usually 34 pounds rolling at all times). I try to get 3-4 pounds of polished tumbles each week so it takes 20-30 pounds of new rough material each month to accomplish that. Woodworking came before rocks for me so I really enjoy that part as well.

Now it all matches like a set of furniture! I like how the belt is covered and the motor is hidden. Nice work.

”I just noticed my boy has on flip flops and saftey glasses - lol” Well, he’s half way to a contractor’s license in Romania. : )

I guess if I had my choice this is better then having work boots on and no saftey glasses.

very cool! Flip Flops and safety glasses ... and NO shirt too!
At least he protected his eyes. That is important.
Nice little project. Great execution.

I agree, that is spotless and beautiful! Me... I have boxes, buckets, dust everywhere. Some bins are labelled, others aren't. I'm not sure how I find anything but now cleaning up the shop is going on my To-Do list
