Our rocks for the world tumbling competition are finally done and they are mixed in this batch with a bunch of other nice hard materials. I will post detailed shots in the next couple weeks. For now its just this one group shot. I sure wish the competition would have been for tony's nice dark green jaspers instead! ![](http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x462/drummondislandrocks/tumbling%20batches/7-3-13/DSC09349-r_zps5055079a.jpg) Thanks for looking, Chuck

Yep, they sure are shiny. Mission accomplished.
You used to polish all of your rocks in your rotary tumblers, then you switched to the Lot-O for the last stages. Do you find that the Lot-O does a better job, or just does the job quicker with less grit? The reason I ask is because of the incredible tumbles posted by RollingStone in the pinned thread, "Newbies, Some Inspirational Tumbles". I believe RollingStone did all those in a rotary, and I haven't seen any better. I have always finished my rocks in a Lot-O. The dark rocks in your picture here, look as good as RollingStones, though.

I think the lot-o has produced a better shine on my batches but I just looked back at that pinned thread and seen that RollingStones was doing 2-3 weeks in polish for the rotary. I sure never tried that. My impatience always gave way by the time we got them to polish so the longest we ever went was 7 days.
Maybe I will take a batch that's been lot-o finished and throw them in a rotary barrel to polish for 3 weeks to see how they come out?

The longest I've ever gone in the Lot-O on the polish stage is 3 days. I've got some in there now that I'm going to run for 7 days. I have trouble waiting that long too.
