I finally got a chance to do some cutting and went to work on a batch of half-finished cabs from an old purchase of Nevada material. The miner I got it from, a mineralogist who dug it back in the 1970s, at first called it Spiderweb Variscite. He later decided the proper name is Chalchosiderite. I've seen the same material called New Lander Turquoise and Variquoise. I call it "pretty" and "great fun to cut." It makes terrific jewelry. The miner told me it was dug very near the famous Lander Blue Turquoise Mine. Those familiar with Lander Blue will see the resemblance in this piece -- but it lacks the blue (i.e. copper). But I think it's pretty neat just as it is. It cuts just like turquoise and takes a great polish. Thanks for looking! Rick

Hi Randy. You do fine work and I appreciate you comments. I forgot to mention the largest stone weighs 76 ct. and the smallest 6.9 ct. The second is 11.5 ct. There's quite a bit of similar rough available and it's still pretty reasonable.
