www.businessinsider.com/hyperloop-transport-system-being-built-2013-7How cool is this? It's being tested in a 3 mile loop this year. 4000 mph ride... NY to LA for $100. It's nice to live in a Presidency that cares about technology and advancing humanity instead of simply killing people:). Hydrogen cars (and power plants). Android robots that allows surgery in remote locations and rescue, operated by people (Avatars). NASA is closer to Mars every day. All these things will be reality before he leaves office. Obama's amazing isn't he:)? That's just Technology. Foreign Policy We have withdrawn from Iraq. We have taken out Bin Laden and avenged 9-11. We will be leaving Afghanistan next year. The Middle East is completely busy with Muslims fighting Muslims instead of us. China's economy is about to TANK. - looks like we're going to stay #1 for a few more years anyway:). Domestic Policy We have the biggest monthly surplus in the History of the USA this month. Stock market, both the DOW and S&P 500 have broken all historical highs. For the first time in years, the USA has the most millionaires on earth again. Unemployment We are closer to energy self-sufficiency every day (closing the economic loop) We pump and refine much of our own oil, creating jobs. Our unemployment is way down. Pretty good for a dumb, terrible, stupid, moronic, idiotic, President huh:)? How can anyone not love Obama:)? Comon... someone point out how Bush did better over 8 years:).

I feel way less sorry for the handful of women and children that got blown to bits in drone strikes than the 5000+ American kids who had nothing to do with the war getting blown to bits, in a land far from home, for no reason at all as of 2008. Nevermind the 20,000 maimed and ruined American kids that didn't die. Obama took office in Jan 2009.

Utilizing vacuum-sealed tubes, six-person capsules could be propelled up to speeds of 4,000 miles per hour. All while only feeling the G-forces similar to a car ride. So what happens when there is a breach in the tube? I think you need to layoff the sci-fi channel for awhile.

Helen you forgot to add this to your list of Barry's achievements. Washington politicians are regularly derided for living on another planet. But if the plans of two Democratic lawmakers come to fruition, they may one day be able to picnic away from the planet as well. The Hill reports that Maryland Rep. Donna Edwards and Texas Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson are seeking to create a national historical park on the surface of the moon, commemorating the Apollo lunar landing missions that took place between 1969 and 1972. “Establishing the Historical Park under this Act will expand and enhance the protection and preservation of the Apollo lunar landing sites and provide for greater recognition and public understanding of this singular achievement in American history,” reads H.R. 2617, a bill jointly submitted by the two representatives on Monday. Read more: dailycaller.com/2013/07/09/lawmakers-propose-national-park-on-the-moon/#ixzz2Ywyg5SE0we shall have our own park on the moon's surface to be paid for by those evil, greedy, rich taxpayers, who want to keep their money to themselves. But dear leader and his cohorts in the Congress have a better idea, do they not?!

Bill, Obama did not get us engaged. Once we are engaged, we are obligated to stick it out til we can leave. Those casualties are all results of the war that Obama did not start, and you know it. When you pull out of a hostile nation, there's no one covering your Six O'clock, those guys are always going to be at the most risk in a retreat. Common sense tells you that. Who put them there?

*LOL* Most everything on our list Helen, has occurred in spite of Obama, not because of Obama. Also, you've been pretty dang selective in what you've listed and have conveniently left out a lot of ugly sh*t that has occurred "because of Obama".
Ie: Benghazi, Fast and Furious, IRS, domestic spying, continued high unemployment and underemployment, increased unemployment for minorities, monstrous increase in national debt, Obamacare which is proving more of a disaster all the time, numerous violations of constitutional authority and the list goes on and on. Nice to be able to ignore the facts and cherry pick things Obama had nothing to do with *L* and give him credit where none is due, while ignoring the crap he has done.
I also find it interesting how you bemoan soldiers that die in battle but fervently support the ardently pro abortion Obama who's policies make him culpable for the deaths of thousands of the unborn every year he's in office. I love the way he touts gun control ideas by saying "If we can save just one child" while standing on a pyramid of dead fetuses. His hypocrisy truly knows no bounds.
I also do not agree with your war assessment. Obama chose to leave our soldiers in harms way so under his administration, those additional deaths are on him. We could always just leave if he indeed wanted it. Still blaming Bush does not work six years into a new administration....Mel

Also good to note the sharp decrease in Iraq deaths in 2008 (who was president then?) due to Bush's "surge", which then senator Obama opposed. US deaths in Afghanistan more than doubled in 2009. Let me guess, the house Republicans fault. Oh, wait, they weren't there till 2010. As for scientific progress, we can thank the scientists who have been working on them for decades. I am personally holding out for the teleporter, beam me up Scotty Lee

With the coming advent of human controlled androids, mining on the Moon (by miners on earth or in climate controlled orbits) is not only a real possibility, it's become probability. China has plans on the drawing board.
Why WOULDN'T the US want to stake a claim with a park designating forever that we were there FIRST... considering that we are too cheap and poor to be there mining next to the Chinese at the rate we're going?

Mel, did you forget the 53 American Embassy personnel who died under Bush's watch, to cry in outrage over the FOUR who died under Obama's? Are those 53 Americans worth less? What are their names Mel?

*sigh* Helen the unnecessary deaths of any American personnel bothers me. The outrage comes from the political nature of the administration's response to the event and the lies and coverup during and following Benghazi.....Mel

*sigh* Helen the unnecessary deaths of any American personnel bothers me. The outrage comes from the political nature of the administration's response to the event and the lies and coverup during and following Benghazi.....Mel The 'lies and coverups' resulted from trying to give a response quickly before all the facts were in, because they wanted to let people know what was going on as it was happening. How did ANYONE hear of it? You think reporters were in Benghazi at the time? They heard about it at all because the Admin told them, and released information TOO quickly, as they were getting it. You could have a house fire and not have a clue how or why it happened. But you will surmise, and your surmise could be wrong. When you make those surmises, how absurd for someone else to show up and call you a liar for being wrong about your surmise, because without an investigation, that's all you can have, surmises. Yet that happened. Instead of realizing how very foolish that actually is, people are still trying to complain about it as a political issue. More than anything, that should teach the Admin to behave like previous Admins and tell people LESS, not more. Fact is, we don't know the names of the 53 dead Americans because the Bush Admin told nothing to anyone when they happened til it was so stale there was no way to actually get details. That's how these things are normally handled. Yet the Obama Admin tried to be open, to their great blame.

Except even Cuba is becoming capitalist:). Yes, and Red China too. (Now do you get the Don's red reference; Helen?) Sadly, free market capitalism is dead in the USA. Every significant market is either regulated or prohibited. For instance, the government mandates itself a money losing monopoly (Amtrak, USPS) and keeps potential profit makers from competing. All so they can lose tax payer dollars in the proposition. That is NOT free market capitalism. Banking? lol Real estate? rotf Insurance? lmao....................................................

I stopped buying a $300 dollar a year business about 6 years ago and told them to shut me down if they don't like it.
I built that big metal building w/out a permit because it is for utility and it is overbuilt and they do not give me any services.
No one can see my place lest they are trespassing, so leave me the hell alone.
Dodging the government-key to success. Forcing us to do wrong to survive.
If they gave a service for the $300 it would be different. If the inspector is going to shut down my metal building because he is not qualified to analyze the structural integrity then get your ass of my property and leave me alone. They wanted a structural engineer's letter ($5000).
I enjoy you retired folks comfortable disposition. So many people are wired and stressed. This forum is loaded w/laid back folks and hobby lovers. Glad I found this spot.

I've been pondering this. We agree Elon Musk is a genius. Unlike you ( helen), I am willing to be critical of our hero's. To make a tube large enough to enclose six people it would be 7 feet in diameter. That is like a small commuter plane. To make it sturdy enough to hold air in while enclosed in a large vacuum tube it will be say... 12" walls = 9 feet outside diamater. Right there, I ain't going in. Period. If there is a failure everyone inside is dead. Even with appropriate oxygen masks the blood will boil at near perfect vacuum. Let's assume there is still a marketplace. The "hyperloop" tube is 10ft diameter and 3,000 miles long. To allow for back and forth travel they are paired. This says we have a single 10 foot diameter tube that is 6000 miles long. The volume of that tube is 90 cubic miles of air. That is a lot of shop vac's. Let us assume Elon's genius allows him to solve that problem. Where is one putting this monstrosity? That requires a lot more than genius. We cannot build a shorter oil pipeline for fear of terrorism. Would not this be a more attractive target for terrorists? Not sure where you got that $100/trip figure from. It wasn't in the text nor was it in the video. That figure cannot amortize the cost of building the monument at all. I love the concept. Elon is not my Galileo. Unlike the Catholic church, I will reserve judgement until the time comes that it is complete. Even then, I doubt I am a passenger.
