I did it. I ordered the Lortone QT66 kit from therockshed.com. In addition, I ordered 33 lbs of various rough and some extra grit. I can't wait to get it and get started.

congrats! Your off to a good start. That's a great tumbler and the tumbling rough from the rock shed is usually great quality.

After you get everything running, there isn't anything that needs to be done for about a week. So, grab your husband and your BLACK Jeep, drive west toward CA and do some rockhounding. You won't need much in the way of tool, but some basic ones would be helpful, i.e., rock hammer, 5 gallon bucket, something to carry the rocks in from where you find them to the five gallon bucket. There's a lot more you can use but one step at a time. You already have a great head start with the Jeep. Now you can go virtually anywhere. You might also buy a Gem Trails of AZ (I can't remember if you said you already have one) as that will give you good ideas of where to look near where you live.

I'm so excited. My order is shipping today. Thanks again Sheltie for the advice. I ordered the book from Amazon and am picking up a Rockhounding Arizona from Barnes and Noble. Unfortunately my husband doesn't share my interest but he likes fishing so I will do my thing while he is fishing. I'm hoping there are some locations in eastern AZ. We have a cabin near Show Low and it would be great if I can find a good place in the area (it's a lot cooler up there).

Nice tumbler! I forgot to mention, for me this started out in 2005 with a tumbler and about 35 pounds of rough. I now have around 4 tons of rough (maybe more) and machines. lol ... The QT66 is a great investment. I have a QT6 (one barrel). They last a long time! Be sure to post plenty of pics of everything that you do, even if you're not satisfied with the results. The tumbler that you ordered is fairly quiet do to the thick rubber barrel.
