I have started slicing a few rocks and I am having mixed results. About 50% of the slabs are fractured real bad. Here is one good, one so so and one bad. The good one is carnelian that was given to me and I do not know where it comes from. The so so (a few fractures) is some of my self collected. I had to keep the bad one because of the really unusual pattern. It is unlike anything I have seen before. I am really tired of pink and red but I am not having much luck with the other colors. I have tossed the last three stones and slabs because of either fractures or they are bla (I guess that is not a word but). I have one in the saw now that is showing some promise and it is yellow and white, kind of mossy? ? Badly fractured but awesome pattern. I have had some of this in the past that the white areas looked like marshmallows. Carnelian wet then back lit. This is an awesome stone with zero fractures. I have cut four slabs and they are all different but awesome. Please, have a great day, ok. Jim

Cool slabs, Jim! I have found some similar to your first 2 shots, I think they may be banded flint? I enjoyed working with your Wampidy's WY Sunrise, still have enough of the slab you sent to make a couple more cabs. Don't know if you saw the one I made earlier,(2nd from top). . . forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/60412/tumble-cabs-6-13Bill

I had missed those Bill. I really like the shape and shine of the sunrise. I sure wish I could find Montanas here with that kind of color. Everything here is totally clear, tea colored and coffee colored. Once in a while I will find a piece with the flower spots and ones with color that is situated in such a way that I can not use it. (fractured or close to the edge). If you need some clear, tea or coffee colored let me know. I have buckets full. That goes for anyone else too. Jim

When you are tired of pink and red, you are having too much fun. Maybe we should have a contest sending you new colors to play with. Tom

hahaha Tom. I have a lot of other colors that people have sent to me but it is not rough. Two things that I like the most is walking the hills to find the great rough and cutting it open to see the prize. Jim

Wow that carnelian is pretty. We too have some flint nodules showing Liesgang lines like your first pic. Stuff takes a polish like glass and really resembles the Polish Flint on the market.....Mel

Thanks for the lesson Mel. I had never heard of Liesgang lines before. I will have to write that 100 times on the chalk board so I won't forget it. I have found some perfectly round nodules that look like Polish flint but I could be wrong on the ID. Jim
