I am working on getting my new saw to it's final spot. Had to move it over 25-30 feet of lawn. 500'ish# saw, full of oil, four good wheel.. Ooopsie! gotta turn it around Facing the correct way, almost there made it! Damned turtles Now I just need to do a little tidying it up and get it into it's corner. I can uctually use it where it is. Next I need to make an awning to protect it from weather. oops, how did that get there? It's tonights tri-tip dinner. Cooked at 225'ish for 6 hours over apple wood.

congrats on the new saw. any noise issues running it outside? When I have my garage door open I can hear my saw cutting from a couple houses away.

I can barely hear them 40 ft away, and if I close the door between the garage and the kitchen I can hear them a few feet beyond the door. I had to rig a warning signal to let me know if one got stalled or something.

I think my bearings must be going bad again because my 14" beacon star sounds like a mini jet engine. I did notice a change in noise level switching from a sintered 303 blade to a thick notched rim blade. My saw just has a plastic cover with openings too so I wonder if the big metal lids isolate more of the cutting noise?
Could just be my saw but I have nothing to compare it with. I might try getting bearings right from Diamond Pacific this time to see if they last longer then the cheap ebay ones I got last time.

Aha! Looks like the moving job went smoothly, Scott. So glad to have been a part of your find, and that everything worked out so well. What are you going to cut first? Jean

kool now get it going lets see some slabs! Roy, I'll be cutting cubes! My slabs are cubic in shape! lol I think first cut is gonna be soft. I have a partially squared piece of Kokoweef stalactite that I need to finish. It'll make a good first cut because it already has two parallel sides to grasp in the vice. I dont wanna kill a 24" blade on the first stone!

wow, I didnt realize that was a 24" saw. Thats a great purchase. I am thinking those full metal lids isolate a lot of the noise. I have a 10" star diamond power feed saw I am getting ready to sell so I tested it today to make sure it all worked and with no cover on it I really could not even talk to someone in the garage while it was cutting.

I am in the middle of my 6th cut. My neighbor on that side of the house didn't even know I was out there. Drummond Island Rocks seems like it's time to check the bearings! Good luck chuck!
