Hello I have a Skilcraft vintage rock tumbler that came with a hard plastic barrel with a rubber insert liner. The liner is torn all up now and the barrel is shot too. I googled it and they said a 1.5# Lortone worked perfect. I like the Skilcraft, it tumbles at a higher rpm than Lortones do so is really good for cleaning shist and stuff off rocks fast. I really want a used one cause The Rock Shed sells them new and I am afraid the lil tumbler will mess up and leave me hanging. Thanks, Bill

Here's what I consider to be probably the best source: therockshed.com/partslortone.html I doubt you'll find a used one - I have only the 3, and I'm keeping them! In fact, all 3 are tumbling even as we speak. Hope this helps! Tom

bill, does that skillcraft use direct drive nylon gears? I just tossed the 3# barrel and thought mine had nylon gears instead of a belt. gears lost teeth.

Hey Mark, I have not looked inside it but its strong! If the barrel jams it just kerps going even tho the barrel is stuck. The barrel is wierd, it only contacts the drive rod on the very edges with a raised area of about a quarter inch. The post I found says they went to a lortone type barr er l on newer skilcraft tumblers that made cantact on the entire lenghtbof the barrel. I will round and clean up rough way faster than a 3# lortone, I guess cause it goes faster. I got it and a 4# lortone off ebay, I figured it was a toy but its a goid one.
Hey Tom way to go, rocks rolling areva peaceful sound!

I shipped it today I hope its what you need. The box needed some filler to make sure the barrel did not roll around too much! And for some reason the post office would not let me pay to ship it . Keith

Hello Kap!!!!!! Got the barrel in the mail today and thanks so very much!!! Its full of tumbles and 60/90 rolling away fantastically on the little Skilcraft, the higher rpm really cleans rock up way faster than a Lortone. Plus this one, I believe its a 1.5 Lortone does not have that octagonal liner so holds a lot more rock at 1/3 full!!!! Thanks Kap! Now also he sent the liner to keep the barrel from rolling around, the box lining was two SFRB boxes of slabs!!! What wonderful slabs too, theses r things I have never seen b4, Kap must keep up with the forum because he sent several purpleish slabs and Susan loves purple! Also he must have been worried about the barrel floating away cause he packed it full of slabs!!!! These are awfully nice slabs but as always what one person loves can never be predicted by another person...... Susan is a Yankee born n raised in Chicago, she loves snow! All last winter she would be here on wknds nursing me with my foot all cut up in my wheelchair, thats why she is the greatest!!!! Anyway all I heard was snow wishes, it never snowed.... So a slab in the barrel was snowflake obsidian, I saw it and licked it and held it up for her and she immefiately said thats snowflakes and I want that one please make a cab this week and I can have snow anytime!!!!! So Kap that little slabbette is my fav and definitely Susans!!!!! RTH ROCKS!!!!!!

Hey Kap lets do it and go to the Hogg! Jamesp, a guy named Tony, Garock are all wanting to go. I bet Mark, Marinedad will go once he gets moved here to NC! Anybody else can come too. Chris Painter the owner will set us up with a private dig with Dishpan Don signing us in and grilling lunch! The man knows his grill! After it cools down tho.
