Well, I put in a couple of hard day's work so thought I'd hit the river again. This time I went several miles to reach a stretch I had not been to in many years. Bordered by farms and ranches, the only way in is to bushwhack it. (No float fishing allowed) Lots of beaver sloughs, the grass is taller than 6 foot, I bet I dumped it at least a half-dozen times falling into beaver ditches hidden in the grass. Gonna feel it tomorrow. Winding my way along river channels, avoiding the brush as much as possible. Scared up a lot of deer. Six and a half hours later I staggered back to the car having decided that the going is even tougher than I remembered. Awhile back a local got lost out in the thick stuff, search and rescue had to go find him. Much tougher country to traverse than it looks. I only saw deer prints, no sign anyone has fished there yet this year. I do believe I saw a wolf track as well. The fishing was great, though later than I like as I didn't' start fishing until I was nearly as far in as I was going. Caught four right off, then walked to another even better looking hole. Fifth trout with first cast. Ran the rocks on the way back. Pretty morning. The rocks largest agate in back is about 4"x3". That one on left in last pic, I knocked off a couple chunks from a 12" nodule. And of course, pet woods And, a fossil! A sponge, I think? And, last but not least, a Prehistoric Pendant. And the trout. . . Hope you enjoyed, Bill

Bill, That is simply fantastic. Paradise for sure. You must get sick of eating all that gourmet food. Probably starving for a Big Mac! Thanks for the scenery!

You can't take a kayak down? Probably too deadly of a fishing method. I am kayak freak for 40 years now. Almost every river in this state and north half of Florida. Over 100... Is that an artifact. About has to be. Cool That is quite a find,no?

It is legal to float this river, just not for fishing. Drift boat guides are BIG biz in this area, so I love that I don't have to deal with folks floating by. I like my solitude, rarely see anyone until I get back to where I park. The access points, (bridges) get thick with people for a half- mile, most don't care to push on further. This river divides into channels when it hits the valley, and this time of year a kayak would be the best way to float it as it would tear up a raft. The upper river is a white water rafting destination of renown.

I am the same way. I like having river to my self. And will go to extremes to find the peace. My rock spots are best when water is super low and unfloatable so the crowds are long gone yEA!
Look at the beauty in those 2 photos. Unreal. Mother nature's finest
