I went to the south Cady mountains with Dr DG as part of a larger trip to get the thulite. We went for a short hike, maybe a mile or so. Dan had found some pet wood and wanted more so we went back the scene. He found a piece that was broken from hise first piece! I found a 35# piece of yellow/orange jasper. I put it on my shoulder and humped it out. Glad I did. It's not the most solid stuff. No cracks but lots of pits and soft stuff. That said, wow! Here is a slab I just cut off it. Crappy pic from decade old crappy camera. But you get the idea. The triangle in the upper right is actually fulls of eyes. @azrockgeek, should I cube it?

The top part is pretty cool. Put it on your bucket list. :-)

The top part is pretty cool. Put it on your bucket list. :-) Contrast is poor and there is a lot of pitting. I think it's a yard rock.

That area just below the colored line through the middle looks like it was trying awfully hard to become a flame jasper. Love that area. Wish I could get back out there for a couple weeks of hounding.

yes, don, flames north of the bacon and similar to a conglomerate/breccia above. Wacky. I'd get out the real imager but it so full of pits. I wasted four cuts!
A dream rock would be this with higher contrast and no pits!
I might make a cut at 90 degrees tomorrow to see different detail.
