I have wanted to tumble rocks since I was about 13 years old. 20 years later, I finally bought a rock tumbler and am ready to start. I am so excited, but don't want to make mistakes on my first batch.
I thought I'd start simple, so I collected beach rocks that are smooth. I don't know which grit to put in and would appreciate help.
I have an Ultra-Vibe 10.
I also collected many different sizes of rocks, from pea sized to 2". I'm not sure if I need to use all those different sizes or not. What would happen to the tiny ones if I put them in? I figured they'd look really cool if they were shiny.
I appreciate your help.

Hi, I'm new also but from what I have read you can't use the course grit in a vibe tumbler. Please wait for someone with experience to help you.

Welcome aboard and prepare for a lifetime hobby. Watching the stones turn into little beauties can be very addictive. You never want to use to coarse of grit on a vibe Shana as the vibe is so active and aggressive it can wear holes in the bowl very fast (as well as eat your rocks up). So 120 grit is the usual starting size. First step though is to read the entire link on Vibe tumbling at vibe instructions link There is a lot of really excellent advice from some really experienced experts. Then you just start tumbling and you will learn a lot from each batch. And make some gems along the way. Good luck, Mark
