I have been rolling along with both tumblers for the past 3-4 months now and now my vibe has some issues.
The wing nuts no longer catch and I think it is the center rod that needs replacing.
I cannot seem to find anyone that carries the rod. I see where I can get the lid and barrel pads, but not the rods or wing nuts. I can probably deal with not using wing nuts (pain in the butt though) but need that rod.
Any ideas or suggestions as to who may carry them?
Thanks!!

You can do a quick fix and just put some more washers on the center threaded rod so it will catch. Lots of people on here have had that problem and they end up buying a better thicker/taller wing nut so it has more threads touching the rod. Brass if I remember right and use the washers if you have to to get up on the rod where the threads are better. Mine is showing rust signs and Im very careful how tight I get it as Im afraid it will strip out before I can look for a new wingnut. Bruce

The rod and wingnuts can be found at any good hardware store. You'll just have to cut the rod to size.
I've been considering trying to make a new rod out of either stainless steel or brass. Has anyone done this?

Bruce already said it, I was also gonna mention adding washers. I did that to mine 2 years ago and I'm still using it with them. The grit gets trapped between the wingnut and the rod, and vibrates the threads right off the rod in that spot. Steve- brass would be too soft, the threads would wear out faster. A good high grade stainless should be better than what the vibe originally came with.

I went to my local hardware store and purchased a 1/4" x 20 threaded stainless steel rod, a pack of stainless steel washers and wingnuts (1/4" x20 thread) and some rubber washers. I think I spent under $15.00.
The stainless steel rod was either 18" or 24" long - I cut it in half and have a spare rod for the next time.

Hi All!!!
For some reason I am not able to find vendors for the post for the vibe, even at Rock Shed. I can find the gaskets/seals for the lid and bowl base, but no posts.
I have tried the nuts instead of wing nuts and it is a major pain to even get them to screw down the post. It is the part of the post that has seen the most of the internal action and is rusted/corroded. I tried one more new wing and it behaves like it is stripped. So until I get a new post, I am dead in the water so-to-speak.
Roger .... thank you .... sometime we all need an extra pair of eyes. I will unscrew the post and take it down to my local hardware and hopefully they will have a piece that will fit. Maybe I am not dead in the water!!! YAY

I have a 3 lb. bowl for my UV 10. I had to do some modifications to get it to tighten down, perhaps a small piece of pipe like I used would allow you to tighten on a good spot on the rod until you get a new one. The pipe is aluminum, just large enough to go over the rod and is larger than the hole in washers.

Thank you all!!! Vibra ... will check my local hardware store today and tyvm!!!!
I will take the rod out and am also printing out the two pictures above for the pipe piece. That is great idea (Gray) for protecting the rod.
Will go down to Patterson's today and hopefully (small town hardware store) they will be able to provide the pieces I need.
Hopefully I will be rolling along in the vibe by this afternoon. This batch is mostly carnelien and similar mohs. It is the first batch I have done with carnelian, agates, and some river, so am pretty excited about the outcome. I know that it will much longer, but being in the vibe will help speed things up just a bit.

Silly question .... I cannot really see what that is in the second picture in regards to the lid.
Is that a plug of sorts? Is that the pipe extending up through the hole in the lid?
Thanks!
ps ... will also take the lid with me to make sure I get the right sized pipe piece.

The piece you see in the lid is a shorter piece for running with lid on. The first photo shows for running with lid off, when I button it down for the night I use shorter piece in second pic, it is cut slightly shorter than from the top of washer in bowl to top of lid. (Small bowl is shorter) , I use another extension pipe so don't have to spin the nut so far.
I'm thinking a little piece of pipe on your bowl washer would put you on fresher threads, (another washer over that) and if the top one is a prob too, another piece of pipe or any spacer would work too.

I am about to dam near cry!!!!!
Servicing the Lortone is a piece of cake. This vibe is a pain in my butt. I am trying to dismantle it, to get to the spot where I can remove the nut on the underside of post and since it is up inside between the top of the motor and under the bowl base, I am having a hell of a time getting to it.
Grrrrr ... going to keep working on it though.
Any suggestions??? Help!

Think I will have to peel off the bowl rubber off the base to get to the screws/nuts

Thank you so much for all the input and support. I could not have done it without you!

Hmmmm .... dry run with empty bowl attached and for some reason it is SOOOOOO quiet. I do not remember it being so quiet.
Now that it is a full bowl with no filler right now (this is really rough rough), I am going to let it rip for 24-48 and check every few hours today. It is now back to being really noisy.
I added a bunch more rough rough and other similar mohs.
