Wrap number 3 21ga square, dead-soft and 24ga copper wire and a Tiger Tail cab from a slab I got from Daniel. This one came out okay. I need to balance out the cage portions a bit more, top and bottom. I might be able to close the gap in the copper at the bail, and I have that "fly-away" copper at the top. I cheated when it came to the swirls. I didn't do any on this one I brought the three wires down - too sharply at the bail, across the front to the back, then wrapped them flush to the back. I did go buy some even cheaper wire to practice swirls with. I do not have the right touch for them yet.. The 24ga copper easier to wrap with, but more difficult for me to crimp. It doesn't want to stay in place. I almost want to tie an end down, wrap, then tie it again. How do others handle small gauge wire and the ends of it?? Anyway, I am pretty happy with this one I really appreciate all the advice and tips from everyone! Thank you Randy, for the excellent tutorial! How many wrappers have you started down the path now? Thank you for looking and thank you for critiques and advice! Roger

Way huge improvement Chuck!!! Harden your wire by pulling it thru a cloth with a bending motion a couple times and its harder, sorta like its not straight and you r straightening by.pulling it in a bend thru tge cloth but it comes out with a sweeping slight curve then do it the other way, the more you do it the stiffer it gets. I really like this one!!!

I like the style where all the ends are on the back.

Nice, I like how you ran the wire across the front for a little more flare.

wow there getting better every time. I don't normally like too much wire crossing the stone but this cab is plenty big enough to get away with it. Thank you for listing the wire specs. I am close to placing an order for wire but still trying to figure out what I want.

I've never had much luck with smaller wire for the bindings. Your wire work is clean, I think that you'll have better luck with a larger gauge half-round wire.

Roger I think it looks great.. Like Chuck says, I don't like much wire blocking the cab but this looks great. The cab is wicked nice to!

Thanks all My son's girlfriend saw the wrap and liked it, so I gave it to her on a leather cord/necklace. One of my cabs and wraps is actually being worn in public lol I had a chance to purchase some slag glass from Jabo Marble Company a while back. I decided to try to cab a piece tonight. It was the first glass I have cabbed. I knew glass was soft - but I didn't know it was "that" soft. The glass is fun to work. Supposedly, this is from an "experimental" marble run. The green is some sort of glitter. It is a lot prettier in person. I tried to wrap it and early in, I mangled one side of the wrap. I went ahead and finished it out. I will redo it at some point. This was with 21ga half-round, half hard and 20ga twisted "Artistic" wire. I was trying to do a 4 wire wrap. On one side I dropped two wires to make swirls at the bottom. The opposite side I carried all four wires up then brought 2 of them down for the swirls at the top.
It was a little disappointing to have goofed the side..again, but some of the other areas came out okay I appreciate all the comments! Roger

Hey Roger- Your enthusiasm is infectious! You seem like you are having a lot of fun and I love the posts of your continuing work and improvements. Like Randy, I have to say that the 1/2 round is gonna work so much better for you. Once you use it, you'll never want to go back.

So far, wrapping is frustrating and confusing. Wire seems to have a lot of strange rules you have to learn the hard way. What works once, doesn't always work the same way twice. There is a variable reward system in wrapping. It is kind of like golf; or marriage. I enjoy the heck of it I ordered some of the 1/2 round in copper and have used 1/2 round in silver color on my first two wraps. It is much easier to work with. I am just playing with color with what I have handy

I like how the wire reflects the swirls in the glass. Nice job.

My thought is practice with the wire you plan on using! Square and half round work the best! Use copper instead of silver and gold until you get what you're looking for.
