Just posting some "others" that ran in the same barrel as the tiger eye I posted a few days ago. First up is some poppy jasper that I got from Mel years ago. These two slabs I wanted to try tumbling whole instead of breaking up into smaller tumbling pieces. Here's how they looked 4 months ago. And here's how they look now (same orientation). Despite me using a Dremel to remove rought spots, they still have fractures, especially the piece on the right. But they took a nice shine and it's nice to have some bigger pieces even if they aren't perfect. Next up is a piece of what I think is coral. I found it in a local river, the only piece like it I've ever found. I assumed it was in limestone, and it was soft, but since it took a nice shine it must be something harder than limestone (and NO, I'm not going to put it in acid now to see if it fizzes! So coral experts... is this coral? And last but not least is this rutilated quartz. This is actually a redo of material I first ran years ago. It is extremely clear material but my first effort with it left it with cloudy edges. This redo, taking it right back to 60/90 and finishing with a slow and gentle 24-day polish is a vast improvement. And now some fun using a the super-macro setting on my camera and the piece of rutilated quartz as a filter in front of the camera lense. First, looking toward a dark fence. Now with the lawn as a backdrop. And finally looking at the light coloured flooring on the deck. That's all, thanks for looking! -Don

WoW! I like them all, but the quartz is by far my favorite of the "other" part of the gold & black tigereye. Truly wonderful specimens.

Normally coral is all about parallel tubes to grab light. Those stacked center discs do not seem indicative to coral. A friend gave me a chunk o that from Hawaii-exact same look to it.

Flawless finish on those babies. The color and pattern on that first poppy is amazing!
