I found something similar here in Wyoming. It looked like limestone between sandstone and it was too soft to do anything with so I did not bring any home. This area has high limestone cliffs and plenty of sandstone so I was just guessing. Jim

it looks like criple creek jasper from the owyhees the patern you see may just be a stain that formed in the crack ! have you cut a slab off of this to see if it go's deeper?

I have seen stuff like this at one of the old mines in the Owyhees, I can't remember which old mine it was though and there are lots of them.

I think it's either McDermitt picture jasper or, possibly, Palomino Jasper... which might be the same thing. C-ya, Rick
