Took a bit of time to cut a few jaspers I found last weekend. These have a few healed fractures, but I think I can make something nice from them. They might go really nice with a pendant made from these roughs. The red is even more intense than this photo shows. And finally, these slablettes that I really like. I think I will cab them and call them "tribute to fallen AZ firefighters" Thanks for looking.

Those are very unigue. What are they and do you ever find any agates in central America? You cut those on that rebuild?

These are from Challis, Idaho. Much of the stuff there is hard but fairly plain green jasper, but occasionally the inside is red like this. I have yet to see one red with a green inside. Wonder why? Differing oxidations of iron? Anyway, they are quite pretty in the hand and take a terrific polish. Also found some nice bloodstone, which has the same basic constituents I think, just small red jasper dots. Ah Panama. So far it is pretty much a bust in the rock department. The problem I think is that all the rocks are covered with the dang vegetation. I think they are there. I have been checking streambeds, but so far little luck. Only one nice jasper and the strange one I just posted under "Specimens". But I am sure they are there. There is so much volcanic activity and geological stuff going on. I guess there were quite a few agates found in the Canal dredge tailings. I would love to look over the tailings from the new canal expansion. Anyway, the search will continue. These were cut with a re-purposed Harbor Freight tile&brick saw. My starter saw until my HP gets going (which will be months ). Actually the HF saw has been a dang nice saw, after I made some mods. Very powerful. Miss a nice vice, but I am getting good at hand aligning and holding, LOL. I made a vice that I can sometimes use and the sliding table on it is pretty good. Will be a nice saw for quick cuts or when I don't want to get oily.
