I thought I would post a picture of one of the Bowie knives with Thulite scales I am doing. I got the Material from Dan(fish) Thanks! I have a Wood crafter doing one just like it with Rosewood scales. They are BIG boys 14" long made with USA 440 Stainless. I am making these to raffle off for Breast Cancer Research. I'll post a picture of the other one when I get it. I will let everyone know when the raffle starts.

440C? From Aldo? Did you heat treat? That thulite will make a very tough handle. Nice concept for the cause.

I bought the blade blank and cut the scales and finished the knife. I though that the tough looking knife with the pink scales kinda went well with the cause. I hope on day they all will be survivors!

I did this a couple of years ago and had a good response from people and raised some money for them. It's a great cause!

Beautiful knife and great cause. The thulite that Dan picks up, digs up or however up, is some awesome stone and easy to work with. It is my favorite stone for making rings.
Are you going to give us a chance to buy tickets? I am very interested in this cause first but I would really like to have the knife too. I already have a display holder for it. Jim

A very nice knife and even nicer reason for it's making. The damn, dirty "C" will affect most everyone before we are done here on earth. I lost a wife to breast cancer, and I too, am a survivor going on six years. Thanks for working towards fighting the "C"!

Wow that is one beautiful knife even if the colors of the scales is a bit poofy *S*. One of the strange things about Texas is, in the state that made the bowie knives famous, bowie knives are illegal to carry. Texas has a 5 1/2 inch blade length limit which seems very stupid seeing as how lots of folks pack concealed pistols.....Mel

hahaha Mel, that is funny. You can not kill someone with a five inch knife like you can with an eight inch knife. Guess I need to get a bowie knife for the next time I kill someone since my five incher will not git er done. Jim

ALL the money will go to Breast Cancer Research! October is Breast Cancer awareness month so the raffle will go thru Oct. 31,2013. Anyone that wants to get into the drawing can send me a message with how many tickets they want with their name and phone number and I will put them in the drawing box. *L* Now Jim, I don't carry a work knife because I want to kill someone with it. That's what a firearm is for, if you need it. I carried a long heavy bladed knife ( my favorite is a Blackjack mamba) on my California ranch because I chopped brush and split wood with it, cut barbed and bailing wire with it, sharpened and pounded stakes etc. A five inch blade just does not have the weight or length necessary for a lot of ranch work. A good bowie is almost as much ax as it is knife and a very handy tool...Mel
