I just took a batch out of the Lot-O. It's a bunch of rocks from Lake Superior. There were some experiments in here, some good, some not so good. Here's the whole pile: My favorite rocks in the batch or something new I found when I was up visiting my sister in June. She took me to a really remote beach almost at the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula. The beach had a lot of little thunder eggs, but I didn't know what they were at the time, so I only brought a few home. They were smaller than an inch in diameter. The other rock I brought home was a brown and tan striped stone. I only took a handful because I had no idea what it was or if it would tumble. Next time, I'll be brining lots of it home. It tumbled great. My wife thinks it might be rhyolite, but I've heard from more than one person that rhyolite doesn't usually tumble very well. Here it is: This one has copper in it which I didn't even notice until I took them out of the Lot-O These are from a different beach. I'm not sure what they are, but probably quartz:<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/82902904@N00/9583644427/" title="Untitled by jugglerguy, on Flickr"> Here are the worst rocks in the batch. I guess basalt doesn't tumble.

Looks like you have some nice jaspers and granite in this batch. I agree. the one you feel is quartz is. Love the sedimentary stripped jaspers. Great batch!

What makes you think they are jaspers? Is my wife's guess of rhyolite definitely wrong?

Looks like silicified sand. That would mean jasper i think. They are fine looking.

The brown striped ones, what ever they are, are really great. They are as good as any stone that could be purchased and better than many.

You really got a nice shine on the majority. I agree, basalt is fun to look at, but never turns into a liquid shine.
