My wife and I did a tour of the Petrified Forest a couple of months ago. That's a great place to "look". We kept our hands in out pockets and waited until we got out of the forest.
We did work the Gem Trails book locations of Woodruff and Windslow. We found lots of small tumbling size wood along the roads. We spent about an hour in both places. I just finished the polish on my first batch. Lots of shine!
Great pictures! How warm was it out there?

I think I created a horned toad monster! First the Regal on our trip and now a superb example of the Greater Short-horned Lizard. Two down five species to go, in AZ that is!
Nice haul of pet wood. Congrats on a nice trip with your bride.

That has got to be way above average wood. The yellows. Where is the sunglasses. You always do the big score close to home Jello.

That is one fantastic tail gate party. About the fifth from the last is one with black trees growing up in it that is gorgeous. Jim

Woo-hoo, that is some splendid wood, Brian! You know how to bring it home! ( I think you made Scott's day with the Greater Short-horned Lizard. Too bad he can't find these on his own - kidding!!

Looking forward to seeing them! @shotgunner thanks for the id on the lizard! Here's one we found a few years back in the forest on the AZ/NM border.. what kind is this? @wampidy yeah wish We'd have found more like that.. love the scene in it. Should make for a nice cab This is my first time using the @ tag.. hope it works!

Greater Short Horned LizardSame kind. That species has a huge range. Different colors in different places. The sorta match the soil colors from their territories.

Where were you when we were in Holbrook??? What an amazing haul, Brian! That dendritic-pictural is one of the best, I think. Along with those ones which bare unbelievable colorfull, of course. Adrian PS. Did Fronzy escape from Randy's place?

Greater Short Horned LizardSame kind. That species has a huge range. Different colors in different places. The sorta match the soil colors from their territories. Thanks man, I see now that their heads are pretty much identical (compared to the Regal one you spotted near Worm Track that had long frills on it's head). Sure enough the one a few years ago in the woods is very much the color of the pine trees in the area, and the one we found last weekend is as red as the dirt out there. Too cool! fossilman bring the lil lady down and we'll set up a trip! Most of this I wasn't sure what it looked like till we got it home and took the hose to it. Lots of red mud/dirt/sand covering it all. adrian65 man I wish we could have met you up there on your trip! Thought about you guys as we passed by the Wigwam Motel with all the pics you took there. Yeah, funny how much them horny lizards look like bearded dragons isn't it?
