My wife and I went on a little trip up to the Buffalo River in Arkansas to do some canoeing...We did 10 miles of the river in the middle section. We got a cabin and just had a relaxing time...SO sit back and enjoy this trip LOL....Sorry Gilligans Island theme went through my head...
The cabin
Bluff overlooking the river that we hiked to...Got eat up by chiggers ..Not fun....
Mushrooms on the trail
The next day we set off to do the canoe trip..The outfitters took us up river to a start point...We got our supplies and were getting everything ready when the guy driving was leaving and the other canoe rolled of the van and hit the ground...I said I hope that's not an omen ...It started out foggy and overcast which was nice....
As we were going the buzzards we everywhere..Another omen?
About 4 miles in the sun started to shine through...But it was still nice with a breeze....
Not alot of rapids and we didn't flip over ..Woo Hoo... did a couple of 360s coming off some of the small rapids..About the last mile and a half the water was calm and the sun was getting hotter...I felt like Chevy Chase running through the desert in Vacation...But it was a fun canoe trip all around...
After the canoe trip we set out to see the elk that were out in a valley...Short trip long...Straight line 10 miles ..Mountain roads ..35 miles... there were few out in the valley...Story goes ..All the Original elk in Arkansas were hunted and killed in the 1800's ..They then decided to go to Yellowstone and bring some 50 or so back to repopulate the species....The first batch disappeared and then they went back and brought 150 this time and they are thriving now...
Not great pics...
On the way out I took some other pics of things
Bronze Buffalo
Cool Spiderweb and barn
Hope Ya'll enjoyed the trip....John
