Was at my cousins place in Bella Coola BC in July. She has about 20 to 30 Hummingbird that use the feeders. She refills them weekly. I was on her deck taking pictures of this little fella. The little left the feeder and flew right into the kitchen window. I thought he was a goner, so I picked him up to keep the cat from having meal. And laid him on the deck railing. After about 20 minutes I look over and he's alive. He sat there for about another 20 than flew off. Damaged his beak a little and probably one hell of a headache.

Great save! We had a similar funny one down in Panama. On two different occasions we have had hummingbirds fly into the window screens and get stuck -- their beaks were sticking through the screen and they couldn't get loose. Now in Alaska I know this happens all the time with mosquitoes and the solution is to quickly run over with a hammer and bend their beaks over so they can't escape. But in this case we rushed over and gently pushed the beak back through the screen. The hummer looked very confused on what had just happened yet grateful how it came out.

Good save Billy. They do not survive long w/out food and water. They have super fast metabolisms. Almost as fast as Canadians(you guys do talk fast eh?)
