Jeez Helen, you're warning Don about what to post about owning inexpensive legal guns while you're bragging about owning a Title II machine gun which is either in violation of federal law or, if legal, worth several thousand dollars. Sheesh!
And why all the copied gun blog posts? As I've said, everyone who shoots has their favorites and opinions are like aholes, everyone has one, especially when it comes to vintage or modern military rifles. Heck, the Colt 1911 has a cult following as do old Colt Single actions and Winchester lever action rifles. Modern military arms are purpose designed. Such designing is the main reason certain models have been declared obsolete by military testers. Anyone who likes to shoot rifles would likely say the Garand and M-14 are friggin awesome and I love them both. I however would not like to carry one through the jungle, the desert, or urban situations as both are big heavy rifles with big bulky ammo. They have other tools now days for shooting through walls and such ie the Barrett 50. Man, I'd love to shoot one of those sometime....Mel

What's another million guns? Last I heard we have 500,000,000 already in private hands.
It adds 0.2%
Not even a blip on the radar.

As far as the military goes, they are replaced, but obsolete means they are no longer used. Clearly, today, people who are gun nuts love em still. Therefore they aren't obsolete. You should have said it was YOUR OPINION that they were obsolete. They obviously aren't obsolete to lots of people.

Helen, there you go again. Only reading the words your liberal mind wants to read. I didn't see Mel saying he thought those guns were obsolete. If you had read all of the words, he said the weapons were declared obsolete by military testers. In other words, The military has newer and better weapons to play with.

So if I start posting opinions from conservative blogs in your political threads I can expect you to change your opinion on a subject?

Don, I carried the M14 for three years before I went to Nam. I loved that rifle. I didn't think a peep sight was even close to accurate but at 500 meters I could put seven of ten in the black. I would not want to shoot it on auto though. Wound in front and kill behind. I fired a BAR that is full auto at the range in boot camp and that thing was mean. Three shot burst and I was ten inches high at 100 yards. In combat you would have to aim for the feet and do a three shot burst. One in the foot, one in the crotch and one in the head. I hated that one and would never want to carry one. Jim

hahahaha yea right Geoff. That is a pipe dream.
I am fairly open minded and can have my opinion changed if something better comes along. Most on here are like the Chinese painter that is painting the same thing that they have been painting for the last 3000 years. It is beautiful but come on, that much repetition is bad for the brain. But it makes these threads a bit funny like when I posted the Russian boots on American soil thing. hahahaha That one got everyone spinning. Jim

So if I start posting opinions from conservative blogs in your political threads I can expect you to change your opinion on a subject? I posted notes from a conservative gun-enthusiast forum. So already done.
