I have 100 pounds of material that I would like to trade for other lapidary stone. This is all material my son and I collected ourselves. I sorted out material that I consider sub-par and will smash it for tumbler filler. The rest is what I'm offering here. It is sorted into three categories: strong banding (light or dark material, banding on a good portion or all of stone), lighter colors with weak or non-existent banding, darker colors with weaker or non-existent banding. Colors range from white to black with gray, brown, tan and rust also common. Very few of the stones are just one color, so even those without banding have interesting patterns. Most are at least the size of a computer mouse.Have a few larger pieces that are about 6" x 4", but most are smaller. I selected chunky pieces for tumbling, so they can be slabbed. Here are a few pics from my 'Trips' thread (outside in fading light), but the last two are inside. All are wet. I am looking to trade for tumbler material. I ship to you at my cost, you ship to me at yours. I'm looking for rutilated quartz, any poppy jasper, pyrite, fluorite, Botswana agate, unakite, corundum, psilomelane, or anything interesting you want to get rid and think is solid enough to tumble. I have a lot of medium flat rate boxes ready to pack (and some small ones, though most of the rocks won't fit in these). Let me know what you're looking for and I can take more pics. I prefer to trade, but will sell outright as well. Todd

Asking price for a buy would be $1.50 per pound plus shipping. What is the minimum size you need for points?

"Cooked". I'm guessing this is a process similar to the one used to stabilize boulder opal? What would you call this or can you point me to more info on the subject? Thanks Steve

Cooked is a heat treating process that makes the flint more brittle so it is easier to knap - for those that make arrowheads. Don't know what what the boulder opal process is...

I am tumbling some now. It shapes very quickly in 60/90.

Here is what they look like out of 60/90 - first dry, then wet.

Thanks for the order jawboney (Tom). Box is packed and ready for pick up on Monday. Will get to Idaho before the weekend. I put in all my largest pieces and filled in the rest with what would fit.
If anyone else is interested, I still have probably 3 MFR's left - small slabbers and large tumbling in a variety of patterns/colors. Trade or sell.
