Laura and I had the pleasure of a visit from conrock (Tom & Nancy) in August. They were touring a few of the sites in New Brunswick and we had the opportunity to spend an afternoon and evening together. Tom has been involved with rock for many years more than me, so he had a wealth of knowledge and a wealth of rocks to share. I must have looked a little like a kid on Christmas opening up the boxes. I’ve started working away on the box of slabs from Tom and will have a few cabs to post shortly. I didn’t realize this until I met Tom, but he is also talented with metal. Knowing that Laura is as obsessed with perennials as I am with rocks, Tom brought Laura a sample of his copper art. There are a few photos below. Conrock Copper Art If conrock is ever passing through your neck of the woods and calls you out to swap some rocks and some stories, don’t miss the opportunity. Laura and I thoroughly enjoyed the company of Tom and Nancy and our time together passed all too quickly. Darryl.

Conrock Copper Art Awesome post Darryl. connrock Tom invented the perfect perennial flower. A copper flower is forever! That is as perennial as it gets. Nice work, both of you.

I've known about Tom's metal skills for years as he helped me a lot when I first stated doing silver work. That's a very pretty piece.

Darryl,,, Nancy and I couldn't have enjoyed ourselves better any time, anywhere! You two are the perfect hosts and I don't know how you stay so slim with the wonderful food Laura makes! The copper violet was a rush job, to say the least, but as long as Laura likes it I guess it came out OK! As for boxes of rocks,,,,I was a little upset with you making me take home so many boxes of rocks because I was trying to thin out my supply a little and here I am with more rocks! LOL Such a dilemma to suffer through! LOL I was VERY impressed with your cabs as you do a fantastic job on them with such a VERY high gloss and perfect domes!Nancy loves the pendant you kindly gave her and has worn it to work several times already! I don't know where the time went that day/night and I wish we could have spent even more time together,,,tawkin rocks and minerals! I hope we can meet again some day and enjoy each others company! connrock

So, you were lucky enough to have Nancy and Tom as guests, Darryl! Then I can still hope they will decide to honor my permanent invitation and visit us one day!

Never known a man to have such diverse talents, generous and so eager to help newbies, including me. Spins a good tale, and can talk the shine of a polished Apache Tear (ya should see his little bag of Tears). I just wish I lived a little closer to him, but then he would never get rid of me. Thanks Tom, I will be coming up for some more advice ASAP

Tim,, Having you come here has inspired me to get back into my rock/jewelery work. The problem is that you're making me have to think and the old gray matter doesn't "compute" as fast as it used to! LOL I also have a woman who comes here once/week to learn the basics of rock tumbling and jewelery making. When we learn the basics and move on we forget the basics, take them for granted and assume WAY too much so it's VERY hard for me to go back to them(the basics) at times and I DO NOT want to lead you or her in the wrong direction! I must be doing something right for to to make that 2-1/2 - 3 hour ride so often! LOL I wish we lived closer too because there's no one nearby who is into all of this and I REALLY enjoy having you come here. Hope to see you soon and maybe we can cut a cab this time?? connrock
