We've gotten about 5 1/2" over the past 18 hours and it is still raining. It can do this for another week and our lakes still wouldn't come close to being refilled. Keep it coming!
Mel - how is it out in Kerrville?

sheltie: It's coming down hard now but this area is drier than yours. We're always kind of in a doughnut hole because the ranch is on a high point of land so storms go around us a lot. We had 1 1/4" from the last storm, then another 1/4" and so far only about 1 1/4" from this series. Hoping for more overnight. Pastures are loving it though. Amazing how quickly the grass grows here. Starting to look like Scotland outside and the creek dams are already spilling. Really nice to have the creeks running again......Mel

Dang, that's a lot of rain in a dry area. You guys worry about flash floods?

We actually had some rain here in north central Wyoming too. Didn't recognize what it was at first then when I got wet I remembered. Jim

So Jim, what's the temperature like there when it's raining now? As a San Francisco Bay Area kid, it still freaks me out that here in Texas the rain is almost like throwing water on the hot coals in a sauna. I like it cause I like tropical climes but man it's so not what I'm used to. Back in California, it was actually cool when it rained *L*.....Mel

At 5pm it has rained 6"+ and still coming down. I'm on a higher part of the area so no problem with flooding. I'm guessing that when I watch the local news in a few minutes there will be LOTS of stories about flooding in the central Texas area. Keep it coming!

It has started to cool off so when it is raining now the temp is in the 60s. Yea, it cools you off way more than you want cooled off. This time of year I run the air conditioner during the day and heater at night except for when the rain came through there was no air conditioner necessary. I drove to Cody (due west toward the Grizzly Mountains) and there is new snow on top. Pretty late this year. Jim

We took my wife's GTO to a car show yesterday. The forecast was cloudy and possible light sprinkles after 1:30. The show was supposed to end at 4PM. By 1:30 there were black clouds to the west so they started with the raffle drawing early and were in the middle of giving out the trophies when the deluge hit. I pity the owners of the open top '32 - '34 Fords. It looked like they were going to fill up like a bath tub. This was a surprise early start to our rainy season. Thank goodness all we had to do to keep dry is roll the windows up........ Bob
