Its been awhile since I have tried to get this many done in one day so it was a bit of a workout on my cabbing muscles Lake Michigan leland blue slag glass from iron ore smelting in the 1800's Opal wood from George,Washington I got this rough from a trip that member Mattaya took there. Lace agates Not sure what this is but I really like it so if you know please tell me ;-) These three "HARD" cabs I just did on the first two hard wheels and now I will toss them in the lot-o to finish them off. JamesP coral, flint ridge, montana agate Thanks for looking, Chuck

That slag reminds me of the ocean with a weed line. Really like the pet wood, too! That last lace is gorgeous!

Beautiful cabs! If I had to guess what your unknown green one is, I would guess soldier Canyon snakeskin out of Utah or Blue Horse Ranch Jasper out of Texas.

Thanks Rich. I had to make the picture too bright to show the detail but it is better in person

I like the idea of doing glass. My wife picks up all the red glass she can find. It is way more valuable if it is the older stuff since it is colored by a pretty heavy dose of gold. Just found a 3/8 inch thick vase about a foot tall the other day probably from the 50's for $5 at Goodwill. When i get 15 pounds i want to break it up and do a tumble load. But i want to save some flat sections so someone would cab it and post a photo.
Of course i am partial to the coral but the montana and unknown are the show stoppers.
That yellow coral is from a giant coral head still stuck in the river bank. It must weigh a ton. I got to mine it one day and remove the gem area.

Nice leland blue!!!!!!
I spent a week in leland over the summer and collected some nice ones (along with greens and purples). I've yet to start working with them. Since most of them are small (smaller than a quarter), I'm probably going to polish them for my daughter's rock dish or turn them into jewelry for my wife. How was it to work with? I've tried doing some searches on them but I've found very little. Do you think they would hold up to quick run through a rotary tumbler to give them a nice polish as you would for glass?

They say the short beaches below the cliffs of Italy in the Mediterranean ocean has incredible glass from being thrown off by the terrace dwellers. Over many centuries...
