First off thanks for the content you have all contributed to the this board - there is incredible depth of knowledge can be gained searching the old posts.....
After years of packing home "pretty" rocks my wife and I are starting to try to figure out what some of it is. In addition to our specimen rocks, we are playing with used tumbling and lapidary equipment we recently picked up - mostly agate and pet wood. We split our time between Montana and Oregon - so plenty of great opportunities for hounding. My main focus is working rocks we find.
Anyway just saying hello and thanks and to openly admit I dont know jack about any of this - but really enjoy what I have learned thus far.
Cheers Andy

Welcome aboard Andy. Feel free to ask questions about anything you don't understand. Also feel free to post pics of your rocks. There are plenty of people on here who can help to identify them.
What part of Montana ? I have a good trucker / rockhound friend from Billings. South Dakota guy myself.

Andy, Not knowing a lot puts you in with a very large group of us here in the forum. Admitting that you don't know much (yet) places you in a much smaller and more exclusive group of lurkers, listeners, episodic contributers, question askers, and picture posters. We contribute too by pointing the discussions in a multitude of unanticipated directions. Welcome and yes show us those rocks that intrigue you and your spouse. Tom

Welcome to the forum, Andy. I am in SW MT. There are several current and former Montanans here. The learning never stops here, an amazing collection of talent, and rock-headed characters! Bill

Thanks for the welcomes, greatly appreciated. I am sure this has been covered a 1000 times already - so can someone please point me towards a post that outline how the heck I embed a photo in a post. Thanks again. Cheers

Welcome! I too "lurk" for much more info than I ever return. My best attempts at returns is what I hope are positive comments on what I have seen and learned on the forum. I spend time in Montana and Arizona, but have a daughter in Oregon, and have enjoyed my (unfortunate) summer beach-combing for ocean stones. Most are nothing special other than well rounded, but polish to a glass finish. Although being from central Montana, I have not done much collecting in Montana. Part of it is that I am now an old geezer and find it too much effort for the old body. Ask any question, and you will get a very educated, professional response...probably, just not from me!!

Thanks again for the greetings. Point of clarification, I have a wet wheel - not dry sanding. But thanks for the words of caution.

Welcome from an Idahoan now living in southern California. I miss Idaho -- except during the winter. I think you'll enjoy it here. There are lots of friendly folks with much knowledge they're very generous about sharing. I look forward to seeing examples of your work.
