My name is Erik and I collect too many rocks. I live in Costa Mesa when I'm not either in the desert or the mountains collecting what I can. Even though I've been collecting for a few years, I still have a very hard time identifying rocks. I'm not alone though. While at a local gem show several students from a local university had a difficult time identifying my rocks. I felt much better after that incident and a few beers.
I'm also a member of Rt66goldminers in Fullerton. Great club by the way.

My name is Erik and I collect too many rocks. I thought at first this was like an AA meeting, and that we were all going to have to confess!!! Scary! I still remember the "Hi my name is ---- and I lick rocks" confessional thread. Anyway, welcome aboard Erik and that is the first big step to your recovery. You will learn a ton from the very, very helpful and knowledgeable people on this site.

Welcome Erik! I'm from West LA. Paul Shiroma is from CM too, but he hasn't been around much lately, I figure his kids are keeping him busy. My mom lives in the corner of NB and I grew up in CM.

Blue, would you mind introducing me to Paul? I'm very new to rock hounding and have a lot to learn, so someone with even basic knowledge would be nice to speak with.
Costa Mesa is a great place. So centrally located to everything down here. I'm right next to the back bay so I have a nice place to walk and bike too.
Where down here did you live? I've lived in OC most of my life. I remember the days before the 55 went through to 19th st. When the Swap Meet use to be a real swap meet and not a China Bazaar. Things have and continue to change down here.
How's life up in W. LA?
