Hi. Anyone have a spare 1/2 inch reverse thread thin nut for 6 inch saw arbor they don't need? Tried all over town here, no one carries the reverse thread nuts.
Thanks! Phil

I needed one once. So I found a regular 1/2" left handed nut which is 1/2" thick then used my hacksaw and cut it in half. Then I hand two narrow ones.

Ah, the power of the internate and the masses. Well done. In a previous era that would have been solved by scrounging through a five gallon bucket of "assorted" bolts and nuts in my dad's shop. He never threw one away and he never walked by one laying in the street. It was sort of like some folks who can't resist picking up a rock. Tom

LOL Tom. Your dad and I have something in common. When I get ready to throw something away, I first take it apart. Mostly out of curiosity about how it worked, but also to save the nuts, bolts, washers and other parts which mat be useful. Pulleys and shafts have their own boxes. Motors have their own shelf. Power cords if still in good shape get wrapped up and put away for the next machine that needs a new cord.

Thanks everyone... Don, I do that all the time! Salvage salvage salvage! LOL, I think they call it recycle now a days. I've been known to bring home an illegally dumped top loader washing machine or two, just to salvage the motors and pulleys. And also the belt tension pulley and bracket if they're bolted in. Those tension pulleys come in handy when using step pulleys to change arbor speeds. Just lift the tension pulley with one hand and move the belt over with the other.
