Thanks, you beat me to the remark. I was thinking of making a post like it in the shoutbox this afternoon, but my #^%$@ iPhone would not let me. Yet, on the other hand, it looks like those posts are the ones that keep the forum alive at this time. Lets hope that the folks doing all their out-door-work right now, will return soon, and then we can try to push back politics. Personally, I don't mind any posts that have to do with any topic, as long as politics and guns are kept out.

I would recommend you use the member block function if you don't want to see these posts. I did and it makes it so much more enjoyable coming on here. You can easily pick out the ones you want to block and their posts will not be displayed.

Easy enough to avoid topics you're not interested in - rather than censoring those that have other interests as well as rocks.
Sometimes our big rock 'family' likes to share off-topic items like pics of our houses, pets, hobbies, businesses - and yes, religion, politics and etc...
When I see a topic I'm not interested in on CNN or Fox news, I don't click on it. I don't suggest they stop carrying similar stories because I don't deem them newsworthy. Choice and variety is a wonderful thing...

Thank you toad. Some of us like a variety of things to chat/argue/discuss. I am a member of another forum that is pretty much just rock and during the summer I very seldom go there because there is nothing new there. I can come here, get my rock fix, chat about my pickup project, and read about what the other rock hounds are doing in their off rock time. We stick to our one section (most) of the time. NOBODY is forced to go there. We have enjoyed that section since the beginning of time and every time we get a noob with an opinion this topic flares up.
I really do not care for the tumbling and fossils. I know how to stay away from them and I DO NOT piss and moan about having to pass them up when I am looking for carving or cabbing.
Fossilman, you just put up a post about your family member's birthday. Do you think that everyone was interested in that? But it was easy to pass up because it was about a birthday.
I will make you all a deal, I will not complain about ya'll's topics and you do not complain about mine. I was a member of this forum for a year before I even knew there was a "new threads" button and got along just fine. If there was only two rock related threads up at the time there would be nobody here. The house would be empty.
Milto, How tough was it to pick out those two rock topics? Sometimes I come here and only want to talk rocks. I find it very easy to separate out the other stuff. When you are no longer a noob you will be able to do the same. And like snuffy said, you can block anybody that you want.
No worries. Jim

IT is the cycle of this hobby....People get busy living.. At times rocks take a backseat...Rock sections get quiet....And those that are here try to fill the lull with things that They find enjoyable. Other hobbies ,things in their lives they want to share with the friends they have on here..It is like a family...They have their sections they enjoy ... .As has been mentioned ,no one is forcing anyone to read the posts that are non rock related threads...Just give it time and the forum will lean more back on the rocks...Remember it is just the cycle...JOhn
