at every show in California all vendors must have a California seller's permit.
In a reptile show a seller got busted because he was unaware. He came from Spain. The authorities busted him and have a $300 fine. Fortunately the show promoter paid it for him. California does have short term permits for out of staters.
To me it is surprising in AZ a copy of an out of state seller's permit is enough. In Cali we need a Cali seller's permit to buy wholesale, unless it is shipped by common carrier to another state, then delivery happens out of state.

Scott, yes, that's it. Desert Gardens is a trailer park that is filled up with rock sellers. Row A is the row along the frontage road (north? side). I think space 1 is at the west end (toward the truck stop), and 22 is at the east end (uh . . .away from the truck stop).
So A1 would be the spot on the northwest, and K22 would be the last spot toward the southeast. I think it goes up to K or thereabouts.
Tony is at the east end, next to the big permanent building that Diamand Pacific is in (it's the only "real" building other than the bathrooms). Last year John was in one of the middle rows down near the east end.

AZ has an official form the vendors should make you fill out. Any resale will work. You sign a legal document stating what you are buying it for and your intention to either resell or make into a final product you will sell. A lot of rock vendors think highly of cash. A lot of discounts are based on no receipt, cash sales. Or so I have heard.

I am taking a few exceptional rocks that I would like to sell but I do not have a booth or near enough rocks to fill one. Is there a way to go about selling them there other than having a booth and other than getting arrested? Jim

Hi all Jumping in here...maybe this will prove usefull. Talk to Tony when you get there and he might know who's buying. The vendors often buy from each other and trade so they have more variety to sell or for their own collections. Sometimes it pays to walk around first, especially at Desert Gardens, and see who the source is for various materials. It will be cheaper from them, or maybe just more to choose from. Strong Rock, across the freeway on the west end with all the barrels of rock, are often the folks who ship stuff in for smaller vendors. I only go over there with a vendor to buy from barrels in the back if someone's willing. Also, vendors who are selling at the Pow Wow will buy up nice material early at Desert Gardens at resell it at a far higher price at the Pow Wow. Nothing wrong in that, it's just Swap Meet Marketing 101. I'm heading over tomorrow for some shopping and then back for the Pow Wow on the 22nd. I can't afford the motel rooms to stay for longer periods, but it will be time enough to touch base with the vendors I like. I'd rather spend the money on rocks...lol

And....haha...
for the uninitiated, the Pow Wow is the biggest show when it happens, but Desert Gardens covers just as much area and maybe has as many vendors. It's just that the vendors never all seem to be there at once. It lasts the whole month. I think technically the trailer park is next door to the swap meet area, but owned by the same folks. Tyson Wells has a rock and Gem show the first couple weeks of January, but it's gotten very commercial and you don't find as much in the way of slabs and rough. Mostly finished consumer goods. My wife like it more than I do. There are usually a couple dealers with cool rough on the first couple rows towards the 95, but shop carefully. Can be pricey for low quality.

My observations from New Years Day.......... Tiffany Stone prices have dropped and there are more vendors selling it. There are more vendors this year, about 2 or 3 more rows in the back. There are some Estate stuff, I picked up some great slabs really cheap! I saw more Woodward Ranch and Marfa Plume for sale at a few different vendors this year. Not used to seeing it at all! Tony was only about 50% set up. Looking foward to going back to check out the rest of his stuff. Found a few slabs at his place and bought them. I got to see Harry, John and Christopher. Sheri

WooHooWooHoo Da po white trailer trash has arrived although I am not sure yet if I am in one piece or not. Right now I feel kind of numb from the last leg of California really rough highway.
What a trip. I will do a long trip report when I get a chance. I took a lot of photos but not sure how they turned out because they were all windshield (dirty windshield) photos.
I grabbed a full hookup parking spot for one night so I could flush the anti-freeze out my water system and take a full pressure shower. I will be headed for the pay BLM location tomorrow. I did not get here and set up soon enough to go see Tony and whoever else is here. First thing tomorrow. Jim

Spent the day at Quartzsite and now I'm back until the Pow Wow. Some things to know...
Desert Gardens was livelier than in the past few years. The show is a little larger, but mostly because they took out the first row and have a vendor selling sheds there, so it got pushed back. One reason Desert Gardens is livelier is because Tyson Wells is almost rock-less. They are all over at Desert Gardens and Prospectors Panorama.
I'm pretty picky with my purchases, or maybe I'm just jaded, but I managed to spend a few hundred bucks and brought home some killer slabs and rough. Despite that, I thought lots of what I saw wasn't up to snuff and passed on some stuff that was the low end of otherwise great material. Maybe Susan beat me to the good slabs from those vendors...LOL.
Got to talk with Christopher, Tony and a few others I knew/met, but my one day was so limiting.
Can hardly wait for the POW WOW!!!
And if you mean the 78 east from Brawley to Blythe...I love that damn roller coaster....peddle to the metal, baby...big air!!! haha.
