Hello, friends! One week ago I visited my cousin in Munchen - Germany. I picked this time of the year to go to Oktoberfest. Here are some picture taken there. Firstly, a beautiful place visited along the route: Melk Abbey in Austria (Kurt, I hope you will enjoy watching some pics from your Vaterland: And here is the Oktoberfest pictures: Ein Prosit from Ina: Ein Prosit from both of us: The atmosphere in the giant tents is fantastic: Outside the tents there are also all sorts of attractions: But most of all, we enjoyed the old style beer couches, with BEAUTIFUL horses: We enjoyed our short vacation very much and I would be glad if you could feel at least part of the atmosphere through these pictures. Thank you for looking, Adrian

I truly love seeing other lands, in photos if I can not go there. What makes it even better is when the photos were taken by someone that I know. I feel that you are my friend even though we have only talked rocks and places. Thank you so much for taking the time to tell your story. I will be looking for the next one and I can still remember the last one before this. Jim

Those drinks are one liter beer, Krystee. Beleve me, when you're there one goes down the "drain" pretty fast and you could easily order the 2nd one. We limited ourselves to only one per person, though. So, Scott, there was no "Ein mehr Bier, bitte" BTW, is that pic taken by you? Adrian

I agree about the beer. I worked w/Europeans for 12 years and it was a pitcher or 2 !! at lunch. Americans hold beer. They function off of it.
An active batch of people. That is a beautiful spot on earth and thanks for sharing.

Hi Adrian & Ina,
Thank you so much for taking us along on your vacation and sharing Octoberfest. In the near future my wife and I wish to visit Germany and do a Rhine River cruise to see the castles, wineries, and breweries. I love to sample various brews, but I am afraid the full liter might make it impossible to sample more than a couple per day!
Just as a side note, the gentleman in the 9th photo, in the lower-center, could very well be my identical twin. I do NOT have a brother! They say that somewhere in the world is your twin...I think I may have found mine!

But I did have the true pleasure of spending three weeks in Germany in 2009. Three one week business trips. I was in Kassel, Hessen for stadtfest in May of 2009. Easily the best public street party I have ever attended. Easily. Our beers were 0.5 litre so we might have had zwei oder drei weitere Biere.... What I do know is that fresh made local beer drank with friends while bands play excellent music and frische bayerische Brezeln are served is one experience nobody should ever miss. True bucket list stuff. Kassel has streets that are 700 years old. I walked on the cobbles. They have a famous castle "Kassel" that has the first "fountain" ever engineered. Fed rainwater from a pond way high up on a hill, every Sunday during "summer" they turn it on and everyone can see what their ancestors saw. Powered by physics, no electricity. Gravity feed the water thru underground channels into the fountain. Sorry for the Germenglish... lol!
