Bought 5 slabs as a lot from ebay from same seller, and 3 came in broken. Now, the packaging sucked, just a paper taped around the whole group of slabs and put in small priority box. No cushioning whatsoever. Contacting the buyer to let them know. Looks like this person sells quite a bit of rock and should have done a better job packaging.

The true test will come in how they handle the situation after the sale - and work to make it right. or not...

Indeed, Tommy. If the seller makes it right let us know. My experience on ebay regarding rock sellers has been good. I like to stack slabs taped with blue painters tape in sheets of cardboard cut to fit the box, then totally fill the box so nothing moves. If they have a mind to, usps can destroy the best packaging, though.

Seller came back and was very apologetic. Offered partial refund or a couple replacement slabs...I am taking the slabs, but leaving the choice up to her (gave her some color preferences of mine to guide her...).

I think it appropriate to name the seller. Kudos to her!

That's good news. The USPS is tough on slabs sometimes.

I recently got a box full of knife blanks and about 1/3 of the box was crushed. The Post Office put a "sorry" sticker by the crushed area. I guess they thought it would make me feel better about whatever was crushed inside. Thankfully the seller packaged the knives well so they were not damaged.

Wow - these experiences surprise me. I've received around 1500+ USPS boxes from ebay sellers and have never had even ONE arrive with the box damaged. Maybe 'cause Florida is downhill from just about anywhere in the states? haha.
I did have maybe 2 or 3 that the contents were broken. One, the dufus didn't put ANY packing in with a bunch of loose pet wood slabs and almost all broke. And then maybe 2 where the seller had sandwiched the slabs between wood or styrofoam AC duct sheet, not had the pride in his wares to knock/cut/grind the big "nub" off one or both slabs and wrapped tape/shrink wrap WAY too tightly around the slab. The big nub sticking up between the boards caused uneven pressure and one slab broke in half and on another the guy much too tightly wrapped a "coprolite load" ;-) of shrink wrap around the slab and it either broke then - which I'm pretty sure of - or, possibly, during the tedious process of unwrapping 20 layers of wrap all stuck together. Some seller WAY over pack their rocks, imo... C-ya, Rick
